Clay bars RULE!

Well, the weather finally let up enough for me to get around to using the "Mothers Clay Bar Kit" on my Titan (see this thread Help!! Overspray!! )

WOW, do they work wonders!! My finish is now smoother than a baby's butt!! The shine is SOO much deeper than it ever was!! The Clay bar pulled the overspray off of every smooth surface on the truck. Worked on the Paint, bumper, and even the glass. Didn't do much for the rough plastic surfaces, but I can pop those off and shoot them with a new coat of black paint.

If you haven't experienced the clay bar, run the back of your hand along your paint. If it isnt perfectly smooth, then you can benefit from it. I found my kit at Autozone for $17, and I have also seen them at checker and pep-boys. I used an orbital buffer and a coat of the wax that comes in the kit, and it gives you a mirror finish. It took no more than 2 hours start to finish, and that was doing the glass and all to get off overspray. It can probably be done in under an hour..

Just thought I'd share that, and maybe help a few others get that schweet shine on their trucks too!!

I have used them before and love them.

What overspray would be on the glass?

Re: Clay bars RULE!

I have also had great results with the clay bar getting off overspray from a construction site. They were painting the houses and it was pretty windy. Had paint spots all over my truck.

Re: Clay bars RULE!

If you read that thread I linked to, some Jacka55 painted his fence at the In-laws while the wife was there. She wasn't paying attention, and I noticed it when she got home. Overspray was on 95% of the truck. Rear bumper, both sides, hood, roof, glass, you name it... It really sucked....
