First off, I don't have this, but do you mean the large rack or the small attachment that actually holds the kayak to it? I've seen these on other trucks and the rack itself is just mounted to some brackets. They come off but it takes a few minutes and they don't use quick-release toggles. I would imagine the kayak holder removes easily, like a bike rack attachment or ladder tie-downs.
Is it easily removable or is it something that pretty much stays there full time?
can you send me pvt'ly or post some more photos' I'm in that predicament right now..i have 3 boats to transport...the decision's are re: take off my canopy..buy the Sliding Titan racks..or leave my canopy on and get racks on top of that..it's pretty tall to be hoisting my 16ft Carolina's up there ..i'm looking for the easiest solution
the Titan rack is stock Nissan...any Nissan dealer can get it...the "U" shape things are called hull raisers (Nissan has a version, Thule, Yakima..all have versions)
my question is....do the hull raisers (Thule) work with the Nissan stock rack..anyone tried it yet?
what is the bearth...obvoiusly from the pic i provided it's my old pathfinder..and i had 52" bars on it..what is the spread of the Titan sliding racks? As you can see i need to load 3 boats.
One of my neighbors from around the corner came by yesterday to borrow my drill motor. When he brought it back, he notices the Titan. Turns out he has one too. He told me, that he has the Nissan kayak rack setup for Utilitrak, and he is very happy with the setup. Said it works great. Does that help you? He does not have a shell.

would it be too weird to get a pic? I honestly can't see it
thinking of trading the canopy for a rack and a Tournique (spelling?)
i have the sliding rack with the kayak attachment. you must utilize the horizontal mighty mounts to attach the carrier to the sliding rack. when not in use, the kayak carrier flips down. when in use, they stand up vertical. i regularly attach 2 12' kayaks to my rack but there is plenty of room for 1 more for a total of 3. i don't have pics of my kayaks on my rack but i could take pictures of the rack and attachment if you still need them.
it takes less than 10 minutes to remove them but i plan to keep them on until kayak season is over. then when kayak season starts again, they will be on for the entire season.

coolio! if you feel so inclined I would love to see the mounting brackets...like i mentioned i already have the hull raisers..and I know I probably need mighty mounts..i'm just trying to consider all $$$ options at this time. Your hull raisers are from Nissan? or? Mine are thule..basically, why i'm struggling is because getting a yakima rack on top of my canopy is the same $$ as buying the titan racks..but then the issue becomes..i have a canopy i don't need and I still want to be able to use a Tonneau on occassion..Anyone know if there is there one you can use with the Nissan racks?
