Off-Road Package????

Can anyone explain what all is included in the '04 off-road package?

I am looking at an '04 LE w/o dvd, navigation, or off-road. I'm okay with no dvd, or nav, but am a little leary about any missing skid plates or some POS shocks.

What all is included in the package?

Re: Off-Road Package????

The visible things is 17 in wheels and tires, front skid plate, off road stickers, different shocks absorbers. The thing you can't see is the gear ratio.

Re: Off-Road Package????

Aside from the front skid plate and rear locker your not getting much outta the offroad package. I wouldn't let the truck not having one hold me back at all. If I had it to do over I wouldn't mess w/ the OR package

Re: Off-Road Package????

I only went with the OR pak to get the lower screws in the rear end.

Re: Off-Road Package????

Get the offroad or Big tow. Either will give you the rear end. Ranchos do give a better ride and if you want to get crazy in the dirt a locker is always good. Skid plates keep the damage down.

Don't forget the front tow hooks.
They are there for pulling all the Chevys, Fords, and Dodges out of the mud and snow.

Re: Off-Road Package????

I decided not to do the offroad pack but I did the big tow. I figured that alot of the stuff was coming off. I do wish now I would have got it just for the locker. I am off road a lot so it may come in to play.

Re: Off-Road Package????

I haven't seen my titan in a while but I believe I have the off road package. I know I have the skid plates because my wife took if off in the ditch and pushed the plate up on the stabilizer bar. My brother said he straightened it out but I haven't seen it. I also have the hooks on front, so I am assuming that I have it.

Re: Off-Road Package????

04 is a bit different.

OR package means you get ABLS but not VDC (vehicle Dynamic Controll)...

Well that is if you get an 04 Offroad that has the locker (Early 04 offroad titans don't have a locker and do have VDC....)

you get tow hooks (transmition temp gauge I think?), different gearing (same as tow package) Front Tow hooks, skidplate (which is much better than the regular titans skid especialy if you do your own oil changes because it does not have to be removed to change the oil) 17" wheels,

you also get stiffer Springs, but crappier shocks (Stock > Rancho) but the stiffer springs are better than stock...

PRG Upper Arms and SAWs DR rears 4" lift, Dunder Grill, Extensive Stereo System, HID Club, AEM, Stillen Exhaust, Wet Okoles, Ham Radio, 200 PSI onboard Air compressor.

It looks like you don't have the OR package from looking at your sig. picture.
First, I see no 4x4 stickers on your truck. Second, it looks like you have 18"wheels and tires. Third, you would have to hit OR skid plate pretty hard to dent it. The standard 4x4 skid plate you can bend with your hands.

All 4x4's have ABLS, doesn't matter whether you have the OR or BT. In fact a lot of 4x4's don't have either package and have ABLS.
The only way to get a factory tranny temp gauge is to have the BT package.

If that is the only difference will the OR ride worse than the non OR,I have read on here that some people say it will but if the shocks are the only difference the OR shocks must be alot stiffer.

I think this is a good explanation, although I think the trans temp gauge comes with the Big Tow package, not the OR package.

Re: Off-Road Package????

This is my first post to the boards and I ma a happy Titan owner. I have the OR package on my 05, but cant find the locker. I just bought it a few weeks ago, but cant find out how or where to engage the rear locker. Its part of the OR package right? Also what would indicate if I have the BT package or not? I have the towing mirrors and a tow mode button in front of the shifter. Is that it? Thanks.
