So after numerous calls with 1-800-nissan1...Nissan gave me a rental car for last few weeks and a plane ticket to go pick up my truck tomorrow. It was too bad they wouldnt ship the truck back to states from the beginning, but I am satisfied with the rental car and plane ticket(2000 dollars) plus towing fee of 1500. I am really happy they stepped up to the plate.
So I am asking for some better luck to get my truck to Alaska. It is a 700+ mile drive in the mtns and single lane roads and I just hope it doesnt breakdown again(I really dont want to drive the ALCAN anymore in this truck)
I can handle breaking down in civilization, when cell phones can handle most problems. anyway...hope to be back Thursday if all goes well
Good luck, VooDoo. Safe journey and many happy, trouble free trails to you!

I like the ruggedness of Alaska with the big city of Anchorage to balance things out. I have made numerous "friends" at the local VFW and I love my house I am renting right on the Eagle River.
Some things I kinda dont like so far...weather sucks(and its summer) cant imagine the winter. Everything is expensive(Dont make enough in the Army). Taco bell is $15 for me and my wife getting the 3 plain taco meal. The politics up here is crazy about making laws that take away individual freedoms(I am fighting to have freedom while I serve in the Army, not so politicians can take em away)
But so far so good...look forward to some fishing and sight seeing...and might even buy a hunting rifle to get me a caribou or moose. Its all about the outdoors up here and if you dont like the cold or wilderness...it wont be for you.
thanks for the interest and hopefully I will be asking about what the best snow/ice tires for my truck soon.
I also have followed your story with interest. I am glad you are finally getting your titan back and at least some help from Nissan. I had a friend that was in the public health service in Bethel - he said it cost them $2k just to do their first grocery shopping when he moved in (all the spices and stuff you don't bring with you). Anyway - what was the final fix. Was it just the cats or was there some other problem?

They said they replaced all the cats(one clogged, one blown out) probably caused by the fuel pump going out week earlier...but with all the altitude changes and the fact I have aftermarket intake and exhaust....I dont know, and hope it doesnt happen again...but most mechanics I have talked with seem to agree that fuel in my cats was the cause...how does that happen? running rich? backpressure low? dont know and I sure didnt ask Nissan what they thought was the cause(fuel pump caused it). They always act like you are the first one to have these probs in the whole world(even at corporate level) "never heard of that before, what did you do to it?" so you can give them a reason to deny warranty work.
When I pick her up on Wed, I will ask to see what they have to say. might need to sign up for AAA or that other company in Canada incase something does happen. (80 $/year for peace of mind)
never know, might need it if I get stuck in a snowbank
The army will give you good BAH up there. plus you get all your travel pay back after you fill it, hopefully in a month. Why did the cats go bad on a fairly new truck?

I did all this without wife knowing
I made it back and the truck ran fine. going up and down the mtns made me listen a lot more carefully to the sound of the exhaust and the engine due to my past breakdowns. I really think the constant altitude changes (10,000 feet to sea level) plays some tricks on the trucks a/f ratios.
On a different note, my check fuel light used to come on at just under 1/4 tank(needed 20 gallons to filler up)
It now comes on at empty(drove another 30 miles), and needed 25 gallons to fill up. I was getting nervous...
I wonder what caused the change
anyway, the dealer ended up replacing 2 cats and 2 spark plugs(fouled)
now I need to clean her up and look forward to winter.
thank you to all who replied. it has helped get me through a stressful time.
