data event recorder?!@#

I am wondering if the Titan has a data event recorder. These are showing up in a lot of vehicles and police and insurance companies can have the data downloaded to use in court for or against you. They record speed, brake use, seatbelt use, etc.

Re: data event recorder?!@#

The OBDII computer saves this info and yes all cars built after 95 or 96 have it.

Re: data event recorder?!@#

Sometimes known as "crash data" it involves the Body Computer Module and records speed, brake application, throttle position and a few others. Not all vehs record all the same data and the newer vehs record more data...

Re: data event recorder?!@#

the obd does not save it by default... obd is simply a diagnostics chip.

the car's ECU might save it however. i know VWs do... and anyone with a VAG com can see the stuff.

not sure about nissan's consult II but it does have some nasty options

Re: data event recorder?!@#

It will become manditory in 2010 after obd III is released. It is NOT a standard part of obdII.

I've said it before... "it's a conspiracy..." but yes, the ECU holds a short term memory of speed, seatbelt, lights, etc.

This stuff just keeps getting better and better. Your post are quite comical. But yes before long your Docotor will call you up because he noticed last night when you took your evening dump that you are not getting enough fiber and he wants to check for colon cancer. Yes they will be monitoring your toliet bowls before you know it. Why you ask well because they what to know all the **** you are doing. Big Brother wants to know all....

They're in your cell phone too B.

But come on guys, if this will all keep us "safer" then it's worth it, right? Please. I'm safe enough excercising my 2nd amendment rights (which are often at risk) thank you very much.

Re: data event recorder?!@#

The day of having the money deducted from your banking establishment by the Govn. because a satelite observed your vehicle exceeding the speed limit is upon us..and there's nothing you can do about it.....the technology is already there....and that's just a minor annoyance of what will follow....and like I said before, our lame society will allow this trampling of our rights as long as the Govn. sez it's in the name of safety.....I love my Country, but I fear my Government.

Re: data event recorder?!@#

it doesn't matter - we are all just computer programs anyway hooked up to a huge computer system in a machine world where our bodies are used to fuel the machine's power demands...

Watch out for those silent black helicopters too, and the UFO's that they claim don't exist, and those anal probes, man do they hurt!!

I am waiting for the day that ground radar is used in the vehicle (believe that BMW has one out now) to keep vehicles from colliding, and you can use it to follow the car in front of you and never hit it. Simply program it with your destination, and sit back and relax.. that would be cool if two cars could never collide. both cars would take action to avoid it all on their own!!

"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security." - Benjamin Franklin

This isn't grassy knoll stuff. It's reality. Look around you. Ever heard of the Patriot Act? If you think it wasn't very carefully called the "Patriot" Act, you're wrong. How can you be against something that's patriotic? Even if it does cost you civil liberties. Less power to the people, more to the government. That's the standing trend. That's precisely WHY our forefathers wrote the 2nd amendment. It wasn't to defend our borders from foreign countries.

Back on topic, Mercedez and Volvo have long done their own independent investigations of auto accidents involving their vehicles. It allowed them to accumulate "real world" data for how their cars and the occupants fared in the crash. They don't do it here in America because they'd get called in to court to present their findings, and that doesn't happen in the UK. That's a shame. If our truck has this, I'd say yes, it probably could be used against you in court or for an insurance claim.

Re: data event recorder?!@#

What Mr. B said is so very true, as most of what he says (you just have to filter it and translate the true meaning...lol). The more the world get's technologically advanced, that is allowing the release of new products to the public, just gotta remember that the Government is always a few steps ahead. They keep all the good stuff to themselves and allow for the release of all these great "convienance" things for the consumer, ie. Lo Jack, On Star, GPS cell phone tracking, etc... BUT... Who else is watching over us besides the good citizen working for the monitoring company... (Hell... Big Brother is reading this and will probably send me a couple of goons in black suits to my door shortly after I post this...)
