HID Light install

Are any pictures posted on how to change front head lights?
I just got my HID lights and Im not sure how to pull headlights out???
I see the screw on top of the light but I'm thinking I need to remove the front grill to get them out.
How is this done? Pictures anyone?

Thanks

Re: HID Light install

I don't have any pictures but I did remove the grille for the install. It just makes it easier to remove the light assemblies. If you can find someone with strong, tiny hands you might be able to do it without taking anything apart. Also, I thought about removing the fender plastic to get access to the back of the lights, I chose the grille. It's much easier to remove and reinstall.

I guess it should be a useful post...

Removing the grille

1. Pull the two plastic covers between the grille and radiator top.

2. Remove the stock grille shell by using a long straight blade screw driver and turning the plastic hold downs a quarter turn to release. There are (4) across the top and (3) on the bottom and (2) on the left and right side. On the lower left and right outsides of the grille shell there is (1) quarter turn screw that can be reached by going thru the lower opening on the side of the grille.

3. When replacing the grille put the quarter turn screws on the stock grille first and then slip the grille back in place. When inserting the quarter turn screws, make sure the head of the plastic quarter turn screw is square and insert by squeezing and making a quarter turn to get it back in place.

Re: HID Light install

I went in through the fenders to install my HIDs and pulled my grille to install my grille insert. IMO, going through the fenders is WAY easier...

Re: HID Light install

Fender is the way to go! Just have to remove two screws, and then you have direct access to both the bulb and the headlight shelf which you should mount the ballasts on. Super easy, takes 30 minutes for both lights. Enjoy!

Re: HID Light install

Ok either I doing something wrong or have a bad set of lights
I tried both of the new lights and can not get them working. I read it takes a second for the lights to warm up so I waited 30 seconds and didnt see anything?
Here is a picture of one of the lights, see anything wrong?

make sure all the plugs are plugged in tight. I had a problem with mine plugging good. Sometimes the wire will come out the back of the plug. Also make sure you do not connect them backwards or you will blow your headlight fuse.

Which plug was coming undone? The nissan plug and wiring harness to the new lights? Mine seem to click together ok. I will try this again to see if that is it, just in case.

Re: HID Light install

the plugs on the hids are not great at least the ones i had. The are very tight and when you push them in hard the pushed out the back. When i have time i want to rip it all out and solder the wires so there is no drop in current causing the misfire.

Re: HID Light install

You were right about the plug. I REALLY had to pull it in hard. The plug is not made of the thickest plastic so I was trying to be careful with it. I push it together really hard and that was all it took.
THANKS..................
