A/C leaking inside

So I have alot of water under my floor mat on the pax side. Come to find out that the compressor housing drain tube is kinked and leaking inside. Also the A/C components inside the dash are filled with stagnant water. Got that fixed. So it smells. Any idea how to get rid of the smell/mold or anything else that may be growing in there??

ahh the infamous A/C leak and now the moldy smell, I bet there are some good threads on this. One person I beleive got his trucked lemoned or had the dealer replace because the smell did not go away. It would be a lot of work, may have to replace the padding underneath the carpet and get new carpet.

Had something similiar in my old truck ( not A/C but a leak ) and I had to replace everything

Re: A/C leaking inside

if it is the carpet make them replace it - have someone else do the smell test with their snoze in the carpet. Your nose may be desensitized from being in the truck. If it is the drain tray and coil you are worried about - run the heater (I know it is hot in south Alabama). Mold has to have a suitable substrate (which the plastic and metal are not) and moisture. The heater will dry those parts much better than the AC.

That is a great idea. I had them fix the drain today, and I would have them fix the carpet, but the truck is going to Germany with me on Monday. I dont think there are to many Titans there. I am excited. Also anyone know of any websites where I can shop of vehicles in Germany??

Have them replace the carpet. They replaced mine 4 times. The padding is attached to the carpeting as a single assembly. I believe they call it jute.

BTW, I'm the one to get my truck replaced. It should be swapped out any day now. All that I will say for now is that it was a colossal headache to get it done. Even with hiring a lawyer, I spent 3 hours on the phone every day for almost a month. And that was AFTER they agreed to replace it.

The trip to Germany makes me real nervous - several days or weeks in a dark, damp cargo hold could be a real disaster if you don't have it dried out pretty well. Do everything you can to get it dry before they load it - run the heater when you are driving, park the truck in the sun with the windows down about a quarter inch and see if you can find some of those closet drying crystals they sell at wal-mart. Spread those in a throw-away aluminum foil baking pan and leave it in the interior while it is being shipped. Also take the floor mats out - you don't want the rubber backing on them trapping moisture in the carpet.

Re: A/C leaking inside

Actually you want to run the a/c to dry it out. The a/c actually gets rid of moisture as it conditions the air and should let it drain out of the truck off of the evaporater. If you run the heater you will make a nice mold growing enviorment

Moisture, warmth, cellulose(food)= mold. Take one away and you get no mold growth.

Even running the compressor with the heat on doesn't evaporate the moisture from the truck, it just moves it around.

Re: A/C leaking inside

Lysol sprayed into the intake vents helps the smell tremendously. So just turn on the vent full blast and spray away.
