This is been out for a couple of days, surprised nobody has posted this yet or maybe i just missed it. Hope Nissan has plans for light duty diesel as well!

Re: GM to put Diesel in light duty trucks

2009! ...every manufacturer, including Nissan, has said they would have a light-duty diesel by then - I'll believe it when I see it.

...and I'll buy one! (Nissan half-ton Titan 4.0L V8 Turbo-Diesel does sound awfully good)

Actually, the Nissan 1/2-ton diesel is slated to be a V6 International, and the frame is already in prototype.

...all I've heard is heavy-duty talk from Nissan which would be a big mistake. If I wanted something big and heavy I'd get a Ford F250 Powerstoke - but I don't!

Bring out the light-duty diesel before the others and Nissan will kick butt!

BTW, my 4.0L V8 implication is a dig at Mercedes and their awsome 420 CDI that puts out 300hp, 500lbs torque and gets 25mpg (similar figures to the Titan so imagine that engine in our truck?!) ANYONE AT NISSAN LISTENING???

I would love a Cummins powered Titan.

Re: GM to put Diesel in light duty trucks

Can't you buy a 1500HD with a diesel right now? I could've sworn I've seen one on the road before...

Do you have any documentation to back up your statement? Just curious where you got your info from.

I am a controls engineer for Nissan North America, Inc. in Canton, MS, and this is common knowledge in my workgroup. 1/2-ton diesel is slated is still slated as an '09 model, and we are still aiming to release the heavy duty as a '10. There will be 4 engines in the HD--the 5.6 V8, a V6 diesel, a V8 diesel, and a smaller V8. I know that our conveyors engineers have their work cut out for them, and we controls and systems engineers don't have it any easier between now and fall '09. I think that's all the info that I'm allowed to release for now.

I guess that y'all will know why I might not be popping up on here very much anymore between now and Christmas '09.
