Titan (nissan) paint quality

Hey guys,

I will be purchasing a titan in the upcoming months, just reading to get the most bang for my buck and to be be an informed buyer when i walk in the door.

Anyway I have an 05 g35 and the paint quality is def lacking, the front bumper looks like a car 4 times its age. And when i was reading on the g35/350z I learned that the 350's had horrible paint....

Well im wondering if the poor quality made its way to the Titan?

I have a 20 y.o car that had fewer chips on the factory paint before i had it repainted than a year old infiniti/nissan.

thanks for any input!

and i hope to learn a lot from you guys/gals out there.

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

I think you'll find that the Titan's paint isn't any better.

Paint is thin. Slightest nick and the spot rusts quickly.

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

The paint is crap, too thin and scratches very easily. That and the cheap interior plastics are the weak spots on Nissans as I see it.

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

A messed up bumper doesn't look quite as bad on a truck as it does on a car. It just looks like you push **** around when it gets in your way.

hmm, that is kind of a disapointment....

rust is not really an issue here in FL, other than the beach, but a rinsing is always followed up to a beach trip.

but on the rust subject, how well is the undercariage coated? if it is skimpy i will throw it on a lift myself and put some 3M undercoating on it when i buy it..

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

my undercarriage seems great, the paint is thin and SUCKS!!! Even a wipe on my black truck with a non microfiber or a dirty microfiber scratches the crap out of it. My vette black paint is WAY niceer then this.

I haven't noticed considerable rusting on the undercarriage. With the new galvanizing and dipping processes they use it's not usually an issue. I have heard, and experienced this firsthand, that undercoating actually holds the moisture (or salt) and corrosives against the steel making the problem worse. All it takes is one little scratch and the coating is penetrated and it begins. My '95 Ford had this problem. By the time I got rid of it, the undercoating was coming off in flakes!

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

I just got my JD Power survey for my new LE KC and the only two areas I rated as problems were paint quality and dents/dings when delivered. The dent/ding was "dealer installed" but the dealer is part of the Nissan satisfaction system. The paint is thin (especially on the water channel on the roof) and there was a nice area of discoloration on the driver side front bumper where the factory had dripped brake fluid. Look whatever you decide to buy over very well before you sign. I am sure there is some variation between trucks - the same goes for squeaks and rattles. I walked away from one because the driver door had a very annoying squeak over the smallest of bumps. Those types of things may develop over time but if it starts out squeaking it will only get worse.

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

Does everyone elses paint have the antichip coating at the base of the doors and rocker panel. Mine was a dealer demo, didn't know if they all had this or not.

Re: Titan (nissan) paint quality

Paint sucks,

Interior Plastic sucks,

Seat Fabric Sucks,

Gas Mileage Sucks,

My Rear End, Brakes, and TransferCase Sucked (all replaced under warranty without TOO much hassle),

And I still love the thing..why??? The Engine and tranny rock!.
