? for lifted Titan owners. After you lifted did you have problems with backup sensors?

I just had my truck lifted and I noticed that my back up sensors only detect objects less than half the distance. Is there anyway to adjust them where they work normally again? When I installed my PRG lift, the back up sensors still worked fine but I put 1" block in the rear so a lot of the factory rake was maintained and I guess they were still aimed properly. Now I have the Rancho lift w/ 35s and my truck is considerably taller and level.

Anyone else have this problem and solve it?

I don't have back up sensors but if you're backing up to cars you have to notate your rear 4 inches higher than normal so you're now probably sensing the hood of the car or windshield vs. a bumper.

have you compared it to a wall to see if the sensivity is different?

I don't see how you could adjust them, they are mounted thru the bumper. You would have to lower the bumper, but that's not going to happen. Unless you bought or traded for a non sensor bumper and remounted the sensors in some way using a short mounting bracket that hangs from the Bottom of the bumper.

Yeah rcantu, I thought that might be it at first so I tested it on the wall of my house. It goes off at about 3 feet, it used to go off at 6+ if I remember correctly.

Not the end of the world but it would be nice to get the old range back again.

I wonder if you couldn't get a plastic sleeve with a collar that matches the bumper holes...then remount the sensors in the sleeve with a bit of a tilt.

Ford uses several different sleeves like that on the brake and clutch petals on older trucks...they are actually a bushing, and are sliced at a 90 degree angle.

Re: ? for lifted Titan owners. After you lifted did you have problems with backup sens

Sounds a lot better than grinding out the bumber hole a little, tilting the sensors slightly and locking them in place with JB Weld like I was thinking.

Then again I'm starting to wonder why it doesn't go off normally on a tall wall. Could it be the with the factory rake, the bumber tilts slightly upward and the sensors point down a little to level them out? And now that my bumber has a slight tilt downward, even though the truck higher, the sensors are actually pointing down?

I am probably overthinking this but there has to another lifted Titan with this same problem. Or is it just my truck?

I had my Titan lfted before I had it for very long. I never noticed a difference but I didn't think to check it before and after. The good news is I still haven't backed into anything.

I dont pay attention to where ine come on at. I go until it starts to beep and go a little further till the beep goes solid. Works for me. I do nto really htink it would be worth any work at all or my time to fab up something to make them work at 6 feet again if thats what it is. They still come on in plenty of time to stop.
