Titans hp.

I probably missed something so bare with me.The new Titan comercial says the Titan has more hp than any truck in it class.I know the Hemi has always has always claimed to have the most is it the new hp rattings that put the Titan on top.

Re: Titans hp.

Hemi is rated at 345 while the new titan is rated at like 317. You sure it wasn't torque? Unless the titan is talking about being in a class like full size import truck....

Re: Titans hp.

When manufacturers make these claims, they are talking about "standard" horsepower. Since no base engine in the other half tons comes close to the Titan's engine, they can say this. So while the Hemi makes more HP on paper, this statement is most likely referring to the V-6 base engine.

Re: Titans hp.

even if it's referring to the hemi v-8 the titan still will get 280ish hp to the rear wheels while the hemi with it's 24% drivetrain loss will be lucky to get 250-260hp to it's rear wheels..

Re: Titans hp.

I think it has to do with the base engine offered for that class. If you get the Hemi it's an upgrade and cost a lot more. With the Titan it's one engine fits all so you pay no premium for performance. Just my .02.

Re: Titans hp.

I spanked a hemi at the dragstrip with the same mods as me. And besides, hemi's are gay and out-dated. I would take 4 valves per cylinder anyday over 2.

Re: Titans hp.

They also threw in "4x4"... most standard hp of any mid-size 4x4. I saw that commercial... pretty much any truck outweighs eny other truck when comparing three specific qualities to three others. Not that I think any less of my Titan for doing it.

I also saw the commercial. It's full size, not mid size. And yes, it's "standard HP". Even with the new Tundra coming, Nissan can still use the term standard HP....at least until they start offering more engine options.

Re: Titans hp.

You have to remember Nissan is comparing thier "Standard" to the base model level (4.7L for Dodge). The hemi is not considered a standard engine, but I believe an upgrade. So Nissan can make this claim "most hp in it's class". It is all about the marketing. Now if Dodge produced all of thier trucks with Hemi's, than Nissan cannot make this claim.
