Brake controller

I was looking at this brake controller on ebay. Its listed under the prodigy but says its shipped as a different name. Is this not the same as the prodigy or is it just as good? And is this a good price, if not where is a good place to look? Thanks

Re: Brake controller

^^^Yes, as long as that trailer is standard in it's wiring. And I'd say go with a more reputable source for the controller. I'd really question it being shipped under a different name. If you want the best (and IMHO the Prodigy is), then make sure you're getting that.

I have the Prodigy ( the newsest version) AND the Titan adapter so it just plugs in. I'll sell it to anyone who wants it for $100 including shipping.
I had the plain Tekonsha Voyager, then "upgraded" to the Prodigy about 2 months ago. I used it twice, removed it and reinstalled the Voyager! The reason? The Prodigy supposedly adjusts everything automatically....no fine tuning needed. Bologna! It gives you 3 settings for pre-braking only, whereas my Voyager is FULLY adjustable and can be fine tuned to work perfectly. I also thought I needed my trailer brakes adjusted because the Prodigy never, even turned up fully to 10, stopped the trailer like the Voyager.....it never allowed me to lock the trailer brakes and back them off to adjust them. I had to run it on 10 to feel somewhat safe.
So....if anyone wants it and the adapter and you have a PayPal account. PM or Email me (Joenissan@aol.com).

It's tuck up there pretty good, white pigtail. 04 XE will not have this pig tail.

Thanks. I have an 06 SE and it should be there. I have one handycap.....it's hard to get my body in place with my glasses on. I'll give it another try.

Re: Brake controller

It might be easier if yo remove the lower panel, only two screws and it pop out. You can see it better that way.

I will give that a try also.

I started this project today because it was up to 25 degrees today, the warmest it's been for 3 weeks.

Re: Brake controller

Well I found the connector for the electric brake pigtail. Once I got the lower panel removed, right there it was.

Thanks for the help gentlemen.

Re: Brake controller

Hey thanks!
Thats good to know. I am considering changing my surge brakes over to electric on my snowmobile trailer. SO one can get this module and simply connect it in and the trailer brake signal will be at the 7-pin plug in the rear? I have the towing package.
By the way..never get a snowmobile with surge brakes...snow and ice tend to inhibit the surge part ...ha ha .
Ya would think they would not even be allowed.

That's weird.... my prodigy will lock up my brakes in an instant when set to the highest setting. I honestly haven't towed with it more than a few times so I can't say much.... So far the adjustments seem pretty good and I just have to mess with it a bit to get it where it feels right... but it seems more like me getting used to it. Trailer brakes seem to be a bit of a mystery. Everyone I talk to seems to have a different feeling about them... as to how much braking they apply, that is.

Re: Brake controller

^^That might also depend on how heavy your trailer is. As you can see from HVT's avatar, he's towing a pretty heavy rig. Mine tows at about 6000 to 6300 and it will lock them up.
