Need advice.

Went and looked at 4x4 cc today, its a 05 with 13k miles on it.The truck is clean as a whistle but I noticed it had two brand new tires on it and the other two were real close to needing to be replaced.I asked the salesman why it had two new tires and the truck only had 13k and he said who ever traded it in didnt have right amount of air in the tires and they were shot. What do you think,BS are not. These were the tires that come with the OR package.Thanks.

yeah the OR tires don't hold up well, esp. if they were overinflated. I kept mine rotated and at 35 psi. they lasted about 22K miles.

Were the tires on the front or back?

Well maybe he was telling the truth. It scared me because the first thing that crossed my mind was a alignment issue, I didnt realize the OR tires were that bad.

Re: Need advice.

I only find it suspicious that only two tires were not properly inflated and needed to be replaced. The two that are not brand new, how much tread is left? Are they in good condition? I ask because usually when only two tires are replaced after such a short period of time, it means a youngin with a heavy foot drove the vehicle and wore down the drive wheels.

They were on the front but the rear tires might have been worn out and just put the new tires on the front and the original front tires on the rear.Who knows.

Re: Need advice.

I replaced the OEM OR package tires on my 04 4x4 CC at 13,000, so I find this unsurprising.

Re: Need advice.

The cynic in me would wonder if the truck was owned by some punk *** kid who loved to peel out and wore out the rear tires but couldn't afford to buy a whole new set. Hell, maybe he couldn't afford the payments and/or fuel either and that's why the truck is being dumped at 13k.

Re: Need advice.

I got 50,000 miles on the stock OF tires on my 04. There was a lot of highway miles involved in that driving. At around 48,000 i had one blow out though. The sidewall split on it.

Did the front and back wear out pretty evenly? Or did the rear show quite a bit more wear than the front?

The other two tires were in pretty bad shape too.
