VDC Slip OFF problem

New to the site here. Just wondering if anyone has had this same problem. I was driving along about 60 and lost power. the truck was still running but had the vdc slip light was on. was able to limp home at about 15-20 mph under its own pull. The engine would not rev when giving it gas. About an hour and a half later it ran fine but with the check engine light on. Has anyone else had this happen, if so what was the outcome? My truck has about 19k miles on it. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Re: VDC Slip OFF problem

It sounds like it went into what is called "safe mode."
Mine did the same thing a year ago, I have no clue as to why it happened but it did.
It has not done it since.
I will try to find the thread when my truck did it.

Did the check engine light go off after you restarted the truck?

Something similar happend to my truck right after I bought it, it ended up being the valve body sensor I think. I have seen some similar stuff on here but no one has come back to say if that was it.

My problem sounded like what your going through, would give gas but would not go. The Check Engine light would stay on and never go off. If you take it in and they can't figure it out, have them call Power Nissan in Torrance and ask for the Service Manager. He spent a week trying to figure out what was wrong.

Thumbs up Re: VDC Slip OFF problem

Same thing happended to mine at around 40,000.
took it off cruise control, coasted to a turn and couldnt accelerate and went to my fire station down the street and sat for about an hour and as if by magic the power returned but with the afore mentioned lights on. the Nissan service rep said it was my onboard computer and not to use cruise control until it could be replaced.
no problems since it been replaced, 27,000 mi ago...

Re: VDC Slip OFF problem

I know this post has been quiet since September but I just had the same problem last week in Southern California and since I’m from Northern California, this was a problem. Their service rep. told me it was a bad ECM so my truck has now been at Empire Nissan in Ontario for over a week waiting for parts while I wait at the other end of the state. I’ll let everyone know if the fix works or if something else fails once the new ECM is installed.
