Tough to see from the angle in the photos Gyrate, but I couldn't go forward since there was still more downhill available in that rut my left front tire is in. Basically, if I had continued down, the truck would have went over onto the left side and perhaps even flipped totally over.
What caused the problem was that I tried to cross from one ridge to another at too shallow of an angle. I got the left side of the truck leaning WAY to far to the left. Had I crossed the ruts closer to 45 degrees, first one tire, then another would crossed over and the truck would never have gotten too much out of level.
That's the problem about end of the day wheelin'. You get tired and start to also get complacent. You've already crossed much tougher obstacles, so you don't give proper respect to the minor one in front of you. Before you know it, BAM!!!
Lesson learned!!!
Regards,
John

yeah if you look at several of those photos of his truck you can see that it is a steep downhill and a rut, very close he was to tipping looks like to me... thats the good thing bout riding with professionals..

Got to give it to you, you have some b@lls of steel. I couldn't take an LE big giant truck through that. I'll have to dig up the picks of me in my T100 in some positions like that. Lots of fun. I WISH I HAD BOUGHT A 4x4.

John I envy you, that looks like a great place for off roading. I have miles of sand trails to ride but they are mostly flat with no challange or the trails are so tight you loose all your paint from the brush (Florida pinstripe) Plenty of mud to play in but that gets expensive to repair, been there done that. Finally got to do some trail riding just south of Atlanta GA a few weeks back (going this weekend again) it was great until the rain hit and then the GA clay gets real nasty and not many trucks, Jeeps or anything else can get around safely. When that happened we brokeout the ATV's, that was another story. Have Fun and be carefull!!

Better to have a Titan than a Loose'n
Here's some more pics from the trip. One of the other instructors posted these today on his personal website. He got some good shots of my Titan being put through the obstacles on the trail. The shot of the cherokee climbing up the boulders is actually the start of the trail immediately off the paved road. It's how you gain access. Good start since if you can't make it up that, you shouldn't be on the rest of the trail.
The V notch shot is especially good as it shows how important it is to pick your line carefully. Too much one way or another and you'll scrape the side of your truck. That isn't loose dirt on the wall of that notch either, it's granite!!
Hope you enjoy the pics!!!!
Regards,
John
