Re: JUST IN....2007 titan does have variable valve timing>intake side
I'll be yawning even if it does have VVT. Gonna take an aggressive hi performance set of cams that could easily make upwards of 50-70 hp to get my interest up much.... Wait, those would be useless now too cause WE CAN"T GET A CHIP TO TUNE THE DAMN THINGS, lol. IF we ever get a chip, and some cams, combined with the other normal mods, we should be sniffing the SC numbers thats out now. Maybe it's about time to see what Menards has to offer. They had to have some bad *** cams made up to be getting 750+hp out of the stock block and heads on Renezeders ride. Or maybe just rip the damn ECU and throttle body out and start fresh on the whole intake, controller, throw in an old fashioned throttle cable and use something a little more tunable. Probably be just as easy, quick, and cheap as trying to work with what we have now.

I like the KISS method personally, and really wish we didn't have half the controlling crapola that we do. Someone make a damn set of aggressive cams already.....so I can buy them. If we can get some cams and a chip......the Titan will scare every other truck off the road.
at least there is one person that agrees with me... i mean vvti is great and all but it does make it harder to mod... although in stock form it should be much stronger throughout the band....

lmao, nah, not really. It's just all the new fangled crapola, in the long run, ends up being just that..... crapola. 90% of it is only to adhere to pollution guidlines and the other jazz. HP is readily available without any of it, but you have to have the tuning ability to get it. Pipes, intakes, and all the other jazz is like whipping a donkey if the ECU just negates everything you do. Personally, adding a 500$ pipe, and 300$ intake is pretty useless for 20hp or whatnot. You can get alot of hp out of an old school chevy 350, and that is on all the old school tech with a 20 ton valve train. This motor should spank those silly, but not gonna happen with our ECU as it is. Once we get fine tuning capabilities, we can get into porting, headers and cams and get their full potential and IMO see HP numbers that the SC Titans are putting out without any forced induction. For now, it's kinda like pissing in the wind though. Seems like it's gonna be awhile too,,,,,,unfortunately
I'm happy with a stock motor for now, and until my warrantee is up. But when I do decide to do something with it, i plan on getting alot more than 20 some odd HP without spending anywhere close to what the SC'ers cost. If that means yanking the TB for a manually operated one, so be it. Menards seemed to be able do it, but I'm sure at a crazy price. I don't need 750 hp though either, lol, but using the same line of thinking and cheaper but similar parts, 500 NA HP shouldn't be a problem for about the price of the SCer. Personally, I think forced induction is the pansie way to HP numbers......
I'm much more into suspension, as it doesn't matter how much HP you have if ya can't use it, and enjoy offroading much more than blasting some Hemi on the street. Gots too many toys to throw money at to get too involved in the truck, but who knows how I'll feel about it in a couple years, lol. Might decide i like ripping around in the truck at the dunes better than the quads or rhino, lol

Many times VVT will not add much max HP, but what it's really good at is adding torque thru out the RPM range. Many of the smaller engines using VVT do so to allow them to keep the max HP numbers but have the low end power also...For trucks it's all about the torque

since you seem to know everything then explain the sensors coming out of the cam coveres...theres a video on clubtitan showing the sensors located on the cam covers.......please explain since im wrong???

LMAO....I never claimed to know everything pal so come off your high horse. I just repeated what I was told, as did you. That video shows nothing your engine doesn't already have! Take a better look!
EDIT: I stand corrected. After looking again at the video, I see the sensors you're talking about. I can't say what they're for, but can't say what they're not either. Again, like yourself, I relayed info given to me. VVT would be nice but...it should also add more than a few HP IMHO.

Re: JUST IN....2007 titan does have variable valve timing>intake side
for the titans sake i hope it doesnt have VVT cause that will most certainly spell doom for this motor mod wise, no one in thier right mind would make cams for a titan that could only be used on 3 model years, dont know about programmers but i'm sure it will slow it down immensely since they know future titans wont be able to use thier items

But you probably wouldn't need new cams. Other mods should still be available though. And ECU upgrade would be more difficult though.

VVT CAN incorporate different cam profiles, it can also be used by a constantly adjustable cam gear (usually powered by compressed oil). I don't know which of these the new Titan will incorporate, but if it is the (more likely) new cam profile style, then the fear "we will never have aftermarket cams for 04-06 Titan's" may be realized.

If the new one does have vvt and only shows a 12 hp increase there could be an excelent reason for that. While at my local nissan dealer lately I was told that peak horse is done with an engine on a stand with only 2 quarts of oil. For 2007 the means of getting hp ratings has been changed and everyone has to show the hp ratings of the motor with all the oil recomended for the engine which has brought down the hp numbers. If you notice toyota is now saying 271 hp when it said 283 before.
