Replaced in cabin filter

I replaced my in cabin air filter today after about 10k miles and I couldn't believe how dirty the thing was. I'm just using regular furnace filters cut to size to save some bucks and they obviously work. Check out the pic.

Re: Replaced in cabin filter

Wow! Mine wasn't nearly that bad after 15k! Do you drive down abandoned coal mine shafts or something? That's a good idea with the furnace filters. At around $30+ a pop for the filters, you could get a lifetime out of $30 worth of furnace filters!

Re: Replaced in cabin filter

damn... I should check mine 12k miles since I installed the first one. Living here in So Cali ( smog central ) I wonder what mine looks like.

Will post a pic of mine when I change.

Re: Replaced in cabin filter

I was changing my diff oil today and I thought I'd better check it out. I couldn't believe it either. The only thing I can think of is we've had a very bad fire season with lots of smoke in the area.

Dang Gixxer.....I think maybe you aughta consider taking a bath every once and awhile ..... I don't think my '04 XE has a cabin filter.... My nose hair filters out all contaminents and a couple of times a week I unroll them outta my nose, brush 'em off with the wifes toothbrush .... then roll 'em back up and shove 'em back in .... I wonder if maybe I aught to oil 'em up with some of that K&N spray oil ??
