If you use JiffyLube....

make sure you watch them like a hawk.

I went to get my oil change on Tuesday. They didn't acknowledge my presence until it was time to pay but in the mean time I was watching them - I have always asked for Penzoil to be used and this time the guy started to put the regular stuff in - I stopped him.

I went to leave and there was oil all over everything - the door, the steering wheel, the shifter and later found more oil prints under the hood.T he tech smelled like he was drunk when he came close to me to wipe off the mess. This after spending all day Sunday washing my truck. UGH!!!

Today, 2 days later, my lower tire pressure sensor goes off, scares the c**p out of me. I check the air pressure and each tire was 6 lbs low. They are supposed to check this.

I called to complain to the manager today and he was very nice about the whole thing telling me that sometimes the gauges are off. I told him that if his gauges were 6lbs off he better get new ones.

I also let the manager know of my concern that I didn't feel that they were doing their job and that if anything went wrong with my truck related to their service there'd be He)) to pay. He offered to give me a free oil change in the furture

We'll see - they have one more shot at getting this right. For the price I pay them they should be more respectful of me and my truck.

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

I hesitate to even respond with this suggestion, due to the flaming likely to commence uipon it being read.

I use Wal-Mart for my oil changes. They are NEVER, and I mean NEVER fast, but I have never had a problem with the work. I get Mobil-1 full synthetic for the same price you pay for Penzoil at the Jiuffy place.

Now, unless Penzoil has had a come to Jesus meeting, or you are using their newest full synthetic, I wouldn't let that Parifin based crap near my truck. If you have ever worked on a car, you will be able to relate to the nightmare WAX makes it taking it apart. So how exactly is it supposed to lubricate? Just my 2pesos.

Best of luck to you.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

That's why I do it myself. I can do it in the amount of time I'd spend just waiting for them to start.

Also, I know it's done right.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

Well. I choose to look at it this way. At least that kid is WORKING to get the Ipod, instead of breaking the window in my truck to get it. Or worse. Shoving the silver spoon further up his arse. Not to mention he might not learn a lot while there, but at least he won't have to sit on the side of the road waiting on Triple A to change his tire. I don't doubt for a second the kids there are not the sharpest tools in the shed, but they are trying.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

Good point DHammond. Quality varies, interestingly awful service for TitanSue. Glad she was watching, and take the free oil change, you earned it. Then go elsewhere from now on.

Some guys there are fine, working up the ladder, others you just have to wonder. I use a Jiffy lube for company trucks on rare occaision my regular shop is over booked. Thay have always been sharp, polite, neat. But I do my own. Just made a 6" x 8" hinged trap door last week to speed it up. Using Wix filter and Mobile1 0W40.

TitanSue, check you local Charm City Titans club, plenty of them guys live closeby and can recommend a good place if you dont want to do it yourself.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

I would not take it to JL. For one thing, their alleged 17 zillion point service check

http://www.jiffylube.com/AutoService...OilChange.aspx

includes topping off the ATF. Nissan indicates that you void your warranty by using anything other than Nissan Matic J. I wonder what JL dumps in.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

Very Important point there!

That is the one fluid you don't want to use anythiing but Nissan's. Pretty rare to be losing tranny fluid hopefully, but keep that issue in miind wherever you go. Do not even use any fluid that says it is compatible with the Nissan. They require it be theirs only.

Should be free if you need any, I would think, due to Moss-Magnuson act.

My bad, I thought the topic was the use of a Jiffy Lube. I didn't realize we were instituting some community service, jobs for kids in economically disadvantaged areas program. DUH!!! Of course everyone would just love for all the kids to be gainfully employed and working for the things they want and contributing to society and all that but my point was, do you really want that kid working on your truck because if so I have a nephew fresh out of the penitentiary who is looking for a new career, mind if he adjusts your brakes or tunes your engine?

The funny part about this is that the guy who was doing the work was 50-something!! Not a teenager I usually get better service from the kids!

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

I have observed too many horror stories to take any of my vehicles to a "quick" change place. Especially wal-mart. That place has almost ruined two vehicles in the past year. My mother-in-law got it changed there on her way down to see us. She got to our place and said the car was sounding funny. First thing I checked was the oil and it was just barely up to the minimum line. I filled it up and she hasnt burned an oz so it was just not filled up completely. My friend also decided to get his oil changed there, got the car back and it wreaked of oil. Turns out they forgot the put the filler cap back on and it was still sitting on the intake manifold. I take mine to a respected shop that has been working on my families cars for over 30 years. I would do it myself, but for warranty reasons I want a paper trail proving regular maintenance, just incase Nissan becomes difficult on something in the future. Avoid these places and if they are your only choice do like TitanSue did and watch them every step of the way.

Re: If you use JiffyLube....

This stuff happens ALL THE TIME. That is the ONLY reason I take my Titan to the dealer. I used to take my Altima (I do miss her sometimes) to WalMart for synthetic. The price is great! But now, I just don't know who to trust. I figure if I take it to the dealer, it would be likely that I would get fair service, but the higher cost is a big downside.
