wet around the axle vent

I was getting ready to do the axle vent mod and was going to take off the vent on the axle and noticed that it was wet. I think i saw a post that someone else had that was the same way. Before i go and do the mod i was wondering if I should take it in for any reason or is this caused by the bad vent design?
