I was just looking over my paperwork and invoice price and how much I paid for the Titan, and looks like I got a better deal that I originally thought!
2006 Titan King Cab SE
SE Popular package with power captain's chairs
Big Tow Package
Trac package
Splash guards
Floor mats
Bedliner
MSRP: $28,805
Invoice Price: $25,895
Price I paid: $24,796
Less rebate: (2,750)
Subtotal: $22,046 + TTL
So, basically, I got my truck for $1,099 under invoice, plus the $2,750 rebate. So $3,849 under invoice.
Always good to be able to look back and find out you got a better deal. Usually you look back and say "damn it they screwed me and I helped them do it".

I originally was getting it for like $500 under invoice, but then I remembered I told him to take the bedliner, floor mats, and a couple other things out and reduce the price and he said OK, but then when I went to seal the deal, I told him to keep them on the truck, and leave the price at the reduced level, and I'll sign, so that took off a lot more.

Are you sure about that? I have a 2005 SE King cab w/o the trac pkg and bedliner but it's a 4x4 with the Off Road pkg, the MSRP was $31,730 and I paid $25k even(no trade-in). Both of us paid around $6700-$6800 off of MSRP. According to the invoice printout that was shown to me at the Nissan dealership, I paid around $1300 under invoice. I supposedly got a $2500 rebate, but I personally think the "rebate" is almost worthless to the consumer. It's just a number that they take off the top, that you could get get past anyway even without the rebates. If you notice, people who buy their trucks w/o a rebate ARE NOT paying $2-3k more for their trucks than guys who buy with the rebate.
If you work the deal to the bone, the rebate may help.

Did you have a trade in?
Yea, I'm sure about that. It just depends how you work your deal. I just looked up your truck (I did 2006 version) on edmunds.com and it shows the 2006 msrp to be $31,880. Invoice is about $28,800. Since you received a $2500 rebate, deduct that to get to $26,300. If you paid 25,000, that would be a $1300 difference. Without that rebate, you would have been paying $26,300, which is still $1300 off the invoice, but you got an extra $2500 off to get your net price down to $25k. So, in essense, since the real Invoice price is $28,800 on your Titan and you paid $25k, you got $3800 under invoice. Invoice price does not change, but the rebates are not always offered, so the rebate really did save you an extra $2500. You got a better deal than you thought! Nice deal!
Here are the details for what you paid:
2006 Titan King Cab SE 4x4

So, basically, you got the truck for $1,306 under invoice, plus the $2,500 rebate. So $3,806 under invoice.

Hmmm well those numbers don't jive with what I saw on the Nissan invoice printout and was told by the salesman. When I bought my truck I told them I wanted the truck for $25k because that what a comparably equipped Dodge was. I thought that was a little too much to ask, but after judging the salesman's body language, I thought it might be possible. The guy showed me the printout invoice for the truck and options, and I remember the price was $26-something, putting my truck at $1300 under invoice according to him. He said there was no way he could do that, but he MIGHT be able to get me into the truck for a $1000 under invoice but at that point I think he was just loBallin me to keep me at the negotiating table. Anyways to make a long story short, I walked out, they didn't call back I went back again and walked out again, they didn't call back, and went back a 3rd time at the end of the month and they agreed to my price.
According to Edmunds the average dealership makes like $2200 on a vehicle at invoice because of kickbacks, so I figure they made around a $1000 dollars on me. If I bought the truck for $3800 under invoice then that means they lost $1500+ on the vehicle alone, not to mention the percentage of overhead they had to assign to the truck. There is no way a dealership could do business like that. I also can't see any reason that they would show me a lower invoice price, if they had told me I was getting $3800 under invoice I would have sh!t my pants.

Go do your research bud if you don't believe me...The $2500 rebate comes straight from the factory...not the dealership. You can get the invoice for your truck at numerous websites. When I bought my truck, his invoice price matched exactly what edmunds.com reported. So, the dealership was not out the $2500. If edmunds is right and they make $2200 on a vehicle, then they still made about $1000 on you. Nissan USA paid the other $2,500. They still made some money off you with the factory holdback, plus a lot of times they simply need to get the trucks off the lot for new vehicles. The longer they keep the truck, the harder to sell. Nissan also will give these rebates to start moving vehicles and other business reasons.
But for some reason, I still think you're not going to believe me. Goto edmunds.com and price out the 2006 version of your truck and you will see the invoice price of $28,800 like I showed you...I'm sure there are plenty of other people on here that will vouch the same stuff I showed you.
Edit: Re-read the post...don't take it to be rude..I'm just trying to get you to understand how the invoice and rebates work. Dealership will try to get more profit by not giving you as good of a deal if there is a rebate. But if you go in there knowing what you are talking about and telling them the price you want, they will still give you a good deal in addition to the rebate. Since you told them you only want to pay $25,000, they gave you the best deal they could based on invoice, in addition to the rebate to get your total down to $25,000. Without that rebate, there's no way they would have done it, because they would have lost a bunch of money. Does this make sense? I'm trying to explain it the best I can.

Dealers don't lose money on year end deals. What the dealer actually pays is NOT the invoice price, regardless of what they tell you.
Don't forget the holdback...the "sacred cow" that dealers usually don't give up...and there's the manufacturer to dealer cash at years end also to consider. Some of the cash dealers get can be as high as 6 grand for high end models.
Another thing to consider is dealer quotas...they must meet or beat quotas to get a good supply of next years vehicles.

You did good. You got more of a discount below invoice than I did, and that was with me using the Nissan employee "friends" discount.....mine was only $927 below invoice on a '06 CC 4X4 SE,then minus the 2,250 rebate.
