Leveling Kit and Wheels...

I am wondering what brands of Leveling Kits you guys out there would recommend.

Also I am looking for suggestions on wheel types, here's the problem:

I live in Alaska and have very ****ty road conditions for 9 months of the year. My previous truck was a 99 GMC Sierra and had chrome wheels. I learned fast that chrome in this climate is a bad idea. Road film, grime, rain, and snow made them impossible to keep clean. I like classic style wheels (ie: Not black powder-coat)...Any suggestions?? (Polished Aluminum? Stainless? Etc)

Re: Leveling Kit and Wheels...

Aluminum will probably be just as hard to keep clean and possibly harder than chrome. Wet conditions will dull aluminum very fast.

However it probably does not look as bad as dirty chrome ****...

Re: Leveling Kit and Wheels...

Alaska-Titan,

I am also in Alaska, here on Elmendorf AFB. I have a Wht, KC, SE 4x4. I have chrome 20" on my wifes Explorer and you are right the weather is hard on them. But, from my experience, although any wheel is hard to keep clean here, chrome is the easiest to clean. Well, better than polished aluminum, I hate them with a passion.

But, I would suggest some Silver Painted wheels, I had some on a Honda Accord and simple soap and water worked. With Chrome, it will take some polishing, with Polish Aluminum, it will take a lot more polishing and you may want a new wheel after one winter.

I am considering Paint Aluminum or an Alloy, like the stock wheels, they seem to be the most durable. However, since my Titan came with Cooper Discoverer ATR, I will more than likely get chrome for the summer and spring and swap the stockers w/coopers on in the winter. Tire Rack now has the TPMS stems available for when you order wheels for the Titan and they can deliver directly to Muffler City in Anchorage.

Hope this helps...

Re: Leveling Kit and Wheels...

I agree. Painted isn't always the nicest looking choice but the most practical. Chrome would be easier to clean then polished though.
