Key Fob Auto-Lock

I looked in the manual but found nothing on this. I have an 04 XE and when I hit the fob 2xs to unlock all doors and the A.R.E. cover, after about 60sec. it locks automatically. This pisses me off. I'll lock it when I want to. Any way to dissable? Also, any way to dissable that goofy clicking sound when the turn sig. is on?

Thanks

Re: Key Fob Auto-Lock

only thing I know of is to close one of the doors so that it is latched by not completely shut. It won't lock unless it's closed all the way.

How does this work? I lock the truck with the door open sometimes so it doesn't honk and disturb the neighbors (and when I want to sneak in and rape my girlfriend)

Re: Key Fob Auto-Lock

All newer nissans have an auto-relock feature if the vehicle has not been accessed after 60 seconds of it being unlocked. This is so if you put your keys in your pocket and accidently hit the unlock button say walking into the mall, the car won't be unlocked during your entire time away from the vehicle. If you remotely unlock and then open a door (not sure about the tailgate with that mod), the car will not relock. It is a safety feature designed to prevent your car from accidently being unlocked with the key fob without your knowledge.

You should turn that honk feature off. That is down right annoying. I set mine so it doesnt honk when I arm it. I cant stand it when people come out of the store and set their alarm of as to say, look at me I have an alarm on my car, as if they are the only ones that have an alarm and it is special. You know they did it on purpose. Because you have to hold it down for a bit and they have the keys in their hand and not in their pockets. I mean who goes and looks at the car honking the horn in the parking lot. Do ever say " I need to check that out, someone is getting broken into!" I just say "Turn that da*n thing off, its annoying, If they are trying to steal the car I hope they get it soon so they can get it out of here!" LOL How did I go of on this rant anyway? Im outta here! Over!

I didn't know this! Seriously. Sorry Heli, but I have mine set to honk. That way I don't have to turn around and look at it to see the lights flash to see if it's set, but if it's going to lock automatically, then it wouldn't matter anyway. Right?

It only re-arm (lock doors) automatically if you hit unlock and don't open any doors withing 60 sec. (consult 2 can change the time to 30 sec.)
If you have just exited the vehicle it does not auto lock.

Re: Key Fob Auto-Lock

That makes sense. I'm a little slow on the uptake today. Thanks BBF! Wish you could have made it up to town yesterday for the meet. Met some great guys from down your way.

I also like to hear the honk sometimes so I know it's actually locked. Although I see heli's rather loquacious point.

Re: Key Fob Auto-Lock

I have also found out that if the windows are left down, even partially rolled down, the autolock will also engage. If you open the door and close it without inserting the key in the ignition, I believe that will also cause the power locks to activate.
