New Truck Owner looking for some advice

Hi all,

Just picked up my first truck ever, an 06 Titan SE (and I love it!) and I have a few questions.

1) What are the good websites for finding accessories, or am I better off finding a truck parts shop?

2) How easy is it to install running boards / step / bars (?). At 6'3" I don't have a problem getting in my truck, but my wife is 5'3 and I practically need to get a step ladder out for her.

3) Also, anything I should look out for or watch for with this truck?

Since I am not rich enough to have three cars I'll have to drive my truck to work so most of the time I'll probably look like one of those annoying people driving a big truck for show, but we like to take family vacations a lot in the summer with camping gear and three mountain bikes. My stepdaughter and her cousin also have some mini-motorcycles that we plan on loading up for some fun too so I figure at least I'll be getting some actual real "truck" use out of it in the summer months.

We have been planning on getting a truck for a while, but the wife finally gave me the go ahead when we are out shopping for some home improvement stuff in the Cavalier and it wouldn't fit in the trunk, so I had to put the large items in the front seat and through the trunk with the back seat down, and her and the daughter had to lay down in the back, climbing in through the trunk. I found it kind of funny, but she wasn't too amused

Re: New Truck Owner looking for some advice

Bogie,
Welcome!
I installed the OEM step bars, the holes were already there. I bought the bras from one of the members on this site. They took like 1/2 hour to install. My buddy got some aftermarket steps and they were a little more difficult!
Great truck, no regrets here.

Re: New Truck Owner looking for some advice

I bought the Platinum boards from RunningBoardWarehouse.com for $279 shipped. I am pleased with them - they are sturdy and the silver color matches the wheels. They use the factory mounting points but I had to use several fender washers on the brackets to get them low enough to clear the bottom of the truck. They took about 2 hours to install, no drilling, just turning a wrench.

Thanks for the quick replies!

That sounds promising with the running boards. I really didn't want to have to do any drilling or anything on my new truck.

Re: New Truck Owner looking for some advice

last week i had the dealer install the chrome running boards AND fogs. everything looks great! cept eventually im gonna get a shop do the mod on the fogs, cuz for whatever DUMB a@@ reason Nissan wont allow the fogs to run independently of the head lights! (tho on the 02 Altima i traded in it did have that option!)

Re: New Truck Owner looking for some advice

congrats on the truck!

I've had trucks for about 11 years now and even though 90% of the time my bed is empty, the other 10% make it a necesity!

Besides, i think if i didn't ever use it I'd still own one! You'll love it! Have fun modding and making it your own!
