My SES light came back! :-(

Well, I reset the ECU on Sunday to get the SES light off (It came on after I put my AFE Stage II air intake in). Well, it's back on again. I just reset the ECU again right now, so it's off again. Will it help if I do all of the procedures that were listed? Like reset the throttle body learning and all that stuff?

I installed it on Saturday, and my SES light came on about 30 miles later. I reset the ECU, and it went off. Today it came back on again (about 30 miles after I reset it last time). So, I reset it again. When will this stop?!!? I can't stand looking down and seeing that SES light. I am pretty sure the MAF sensor is in there correctly. The silver lining part is facing me. I need to find out how to be able to use this intake without the SES light keep coming on!!! Thanks!

You can get an OBD II code reader at advance Auto, Autozone, etc. for about $75.00. It will read your code and then you can erase it. I know it sounds like a lot to get rid of a code, but you can use it the next time you have a problem and you can also use it on any other 96' or newer vehicle.

Re: My SES light came back! :-(

We can do that manually via a procedure. I can read the code and clear it, but it keeps coming back about 30 miles after I clear it...This has been happening since I put the AFE Stage II CAI on. The code is P0172, which is fuel rich bank 1

Re: My SES light came back! :-(

I helped a budy of mine put on a Fram intake & filter. It did the same thing. After a week of trying one thing after another he tried the OBD II and erased the code. It hasn't come back. The only problem he has now is everybody wants to borrow the OBD to see why the check engine light is on on their vehicle.

Re: My SES light came back! :-(

I broke down and bought my own OBD2 code reader to support my previous GM truck. Best 150 bucks I ever spent. Not only was I able to shut off the light in the GM truck, it diagnoses VWs, Hondas, everything and if you are a DIY type guy, I don't know how I ever got along without it. Can you borrow one from a buddy?

It's the AFE intake, a few folks have also reported the SES light with the AFE. Put your stock intake back on and if the light goes away you'll know it's the AFE. Running rich probably.
