Question regarding oil change frequency

I have searched and have not found an answer to my specific question.

In April I changed my oil with Mobile 1 synthetic with the intention of running it for 5000 miles. Well, six months later I sit here with only 3000 miles since it was changed. Should I change it now or am I still good to go until 5000 miles?

I don't tow anything and don't drive too hard, normally.

You'll be just fine running it to 5000.

I would go by mileage. I go 7500 miles with M1.

on cars that come with Mobile 1 in them they oil change intervals are between 15k and 30k so 5k is nothing. I ran M1 in my old maxima and changed every 5k. It is a far superior oil to dynos and with good filtration will last a looooooong time.

My feeling is that the whole 3k oil change intervals were for the oils of 20 years ago + and todays oils are much better, todays engines are much tighter and will last longer. It is just still at the 3k mark to allow the "Jiffy lubes" of today to stay in business.

My buddy didn't change his oil in his titan till it was at 7200 miles. I would be interested to see what an oil analysis of his oil would show. I'm pretty sure he still has it but i know he is too cheap to get it done.

I change my Mobil 1 every 7,500 miles.

I change my Mobil1 at 5k intervals as well. If the 6 months bothers you (I don't think it's a problem) then just change it. It's pretty cheap piece of mind.
