driver arm rest

Sup,

I have a situation.

I just bought an '04 about 3 weeks ago from a guy in Atlanta. You know how sometimes when you're test driving a vehicle you don’t check out EVERY LITTLE THING. Well, I had no idea I needed to pull the arm rest down on the driver side. After finalizing the purchase and getting the truck home, I realize the arm rest only comes down half way. AND it can go back past where it should stop. Long story, the arm rest travels its full range of motion but not from vertical to horizontal. Basically from one leg of the letter "V" to the other leg.

The question I have is how to fix this. I learned the hard way with trying to replace the speakers in my Maxima (that you have to remove the entire rear seat only after breaking the factory speaker cover) that sometimes what looks like it should be done one way will need to be done another.

First, to remove the plastic circular thing at the vertex, is there a special tool or will it just pull out with a screwdriver.

Second, is this just an "unscrew a locking bolt and repositioning the arm back on a bolt" or is there something else I should know.

Sorry for being sooooo long

IROCK

Re: driver arm rest

Well, found the problem. Apparently the former driver had an issue with the armrest and of course failed to mention it to me. After taking the armrest off I discovered that the "stopper" (metal piece that sits in the track of the armrest) has been broken and re-welded, IN THE WRONG SPOT!!!!! I am at a loss as how to repair this. I dont think it can be re-welded in the right spot.

Any Suggestions from anybody???
