I completed the rear axle breather mod about 3 weeks ago. And, about 1 week ago I noticed a 6" puddle of rear fluid leaking from behind my rear tailight. So, I removed the tailight and noticed that the fluid was still leaking out of my breather hose. So then I removed the fuel filter (which I thought may cause the hose to not "breath" good) and have tried riding without it hoping it would "breath" easier without the filter. And, still it continues to leave little spots of gear fluid on my driveway. So, I checked my level using my dip stick from my Mag-hytec cover and added a little more Amsoil rear gear oil. Is this normal? Even from the factory, my 07' leaked a little around the little bronze breather tube. And, I was hoping to cure the problem with the breather mod. Again, I even removed the filter (which I read that I dont really need the filter anyway) and it still leaks. So, what is causing this? After doing the mod, I figured that my rear diff would be able to take in air as well as let the pressure out. So, I didnt think it would leak at all. Worst case scenerio, I would have to check my rear diff fluid (which is very easy with the mag-hytec dip stick) bi-weekly and add a little fluid if necessary. Its a pain in the butt, but I dont mind knowing that my rear diff is breathing alot better now. Opinions, questions, advice??? Thanks

Should have left well enough alone. If you want to extend the breather tube, use the accordian type. They can't leak yet allow for expansion and contraction....although I know of no problems with the factory tube.

Actually my stock breather tube also leaked fluid.....so, that is why I cant leave well enough alone. There are several other members who also have fluid leaking from the factory breather tube. This mod is a great mod for saving your seals and helping your diff breath better. If you dont mind, where can I find/buy the accordian type breather tubes at? Maybe the accordian type will solve my problem. Thanks
My stock vent has about a 1" diameter oil residue around it. I'm not concerned with that, in fact, it's doing its job imo.

Try the dealer. My 02 Frontier had that type.
