Taking off Black pastic on tailgate

hey guys, i just saw a fixed up titan with the black plastic thing on the tailgate off. Does anyone know if this an be taken off easily or is it best to take it to a body shop? Is it just paint under?? The Titan i saw it with out the plastic was custom painted a camo color so i have no idea if he had it taken off then re-painted. Does it leave holes does the titan emblem on the back leave holes or is it glued on like the other emblems?

there have been some threads on this. There are holes in it. Would be best for a body shop cuz your gunna have to cover them.
