11/28/06 Update

Wow, these A/T Revo Duelers are great tires! I noticed a difference in turn-in feel as soon as I drove the truck, and most importantly, the vibration is gone. I have been in the mud once anf if the way they threw/moved mud is any indication of how they handle snow, I should be in good shape. GOOD.

When the A/T Revo Duelers went onto my truck and the Kumhos were taken off I did not layout any more money, so I got about a $225 tire upgrade for free. GOOD.

Dunn Tire is now working with the body shop of my choice to get all the insurance paperwork taken care of, the body shop is ordering parts, and with luck I should have a date to drop off my truck very soon, as I have to wait for some parts to come in. GOOD.

Dunn Tire has agreed they need to do more to compensate me for all my time and trouble, but they have yet to come up with a specific proposal. I have been very polite and professional throughout this entire affair and I believe the person I'm dealing with is honest, but my patience/curiosity does have limits. NOT GOOD.

I think that is all for now. I'm really looking forward to both the 1st snow so I can try out these new tires, as well as not having to look at that damn dent anymore. If someone is on the edge and they don't know if they should go Kumho KL78 or Bridgestone Duelers - go Duelers!

Re: Tire change experience from hell...

I'll have to ask my wife if she's been moonlighting at Dunn Tire, she did almost the samething to my truck, not quite as much damage though. I worked out a $625 cash deal with the shop the local Nissan dealer uses. I got some qoutes as high as $1544. Glad to see your on course to get it fixed, I hated driving a dinged up truck & got it fixed within a week.

I'm ROFLMAO...

I got the Titan scheduled to go in for repair on 12/5, this is great I should clearly have it for the holiday errands I know it will have to do. Today I have to call my contact at Dunn Tire and work out the details for the rental car they are paying for. I have to make sure they give me something like a PT Cruiser, Caliber, Vibe, HHR, Malibu Max- something with some space in the back, I'll refuse to drive a 4-door sedan because it will not work for my job.

Now here is what I'm laughing over. All along Dunn has said they would give their insurance information to the body shop once I picked who I was going with. I have been very careful to not even let out of my mouth who my insurance company is even though this really bothered the body shop. Well yesterday when the body shop manager called to say he was all set with payment details and wanted to set a date for dropping the truck off he revealed Dunn is not running it through their insurance company; they are paying for this out of their pocket.

I'm not exactly sure how I can use this little fact to my benefit, but I'm sure I will think of something. From my point of view I don't think they wanted me to know this little detail. This little situation really is going to impact them.

At last!

I got the Titan back on Saturday. As far as the body work repair I could not be happier. The shop I took it too I had used long, long ago when I caved in the front of my XE-V6 Hardbody upon hitting a deer at 65mph.

I have to call the tire store again today, I suspect in the end they are going to be nothig more than dirtbags. They covered the repair and the rental car, and the $250 tire upgrade and had said they would do more to compensate me, but alas, I'm not seeing them take any actions...

Here are a few pics

Overall

Closeup

I will say one thing more about the body shop, their doll-up guy is extraordinary. My truck had not been this clean since I picked it up new. I have no idea how they cleaned the wheels so well, they cleaned all the manufacturing crap off the new tires and then dressed them, they washed and detailed the body as well as I take care of my S2000, and then they even cleaned the interior, right down to making my year-old rubber flormats look brand new. I was blown away, it was a crime to take it out onto the dirty salty roads.

Re: Tire change experience from hell...

I was really anal about the small bevel of the fender at the arched wheel opening. This bevel was flattened right out when the truck hit the wall. These guys opulled the body out, shaped it, and then used very little bondo and used the right side of the truck to pattern the left side off of. I was so impressed I think I'm going back in the spring to have then do some other touch ups.
