Although my daughters are very jazzed at the idea and were bugging me to get a truck this time...
A bit of history - I had race cars for many years and first had a Dodge Dakota as my tow vehicle then migrated to Suburbans - first a '94 then a '01. Wife drove those. Now she drives a Mazda Protege5 wagon because we realized it was silly for her to drive 18K miles / year running the kids and herself all over town when we only have 2 kids, who are now 9 and 11. Our last "big" SUV was a '04 Armada, which I really liked but she never really did - she prefered the Suburbans. But as someone who has grown acustomed to good steering feel and tranny performance driving several BMW cars around, the Chevys became too painful for me to deal with - the vaugue and sloppy steering and clumsy 4spd was too much to bear. So about 9 months ago I sold the race car and downsized to a Murano as the family SUV, which I also drive to work part time and use for business use. It is a great little car-like SUV. But then I realized I missed owning a race car and wanted to try out a new road race series next season, so I picked another race car up. And I also decided I was done with SUV's because they really lack the utility I need shlepping dirty car parts around. So I thought I would go for a truck this time.
I looked at the Dodge trucks - cabin too small. Chevy - same crappy steering. Ford - very decent, but lacking power. Then I looked at all the SUV's - Suburban, Tahoe, Expedition, Durango, Armada, Navigator. The only one I really liked out of that lot was the Navigator, but prices for a '05-'06 are into the mid $30's for a used vehicle with half the warrantee gone. So it didn't seem like a good value, and the utility was not there for my race support needs either. So I looked at the Titan. Perfect!! Best of all worlds. Plenty of room in the cabin, excellent ride and handling and steering and that fabulous engine tranny combo that I loved so much in the Armada. And the added visbility vs. a bus-like SUV was a refreshing change as well. I was sold - that was the perfect solution. I figured with a bed cover it will serve well as the family road tripper and ski vehicle in addition to serving me as my primary daily driver.
I didn't tell the wife - I rarely consult with her on car decisions and she knows it works better for us that way. But she took one look at this "truck" and got a bit upset with me. Awhile back I was on a kick to make the switch to a truck and took her to the chevy dealer to look at an Avalanche. She took one look at it and said - nope. Which she pretty much never does. Said it wouldn't work as a family vehicle and wanted no part of it. Not sure exactly why that is, but I think she has this concept that all trucks are like the '94 Dakota we owned - cramped inside and rides like a "truck". Anyway, she saw the Titan and said she told me before a truck would not work so why did I get one? I tried to explain to her it was basically the same exact thing as an Armada, just with a bed. She wouldn't even listen to me - didn't want to hear it. I think her mind was already made up - truck = bad. Kinda ironic, because if I had showed up in a 3/4ton Suburban or Dodge Durango or Excursion she would not have thought twice about it, and I drove all those and the Titan rides better than all of them and has more room in the cabin too, at least up to the rear seat.
So I hope she grows to like it over time, because I like it a lot more than any SUV for so many reasons.....
Oops, forgot to mention what I got -
06 LE CC 4x4 with Big Tow and step package.
So it has leather, heated seats, dual zone climate control, huge back seat with real windows, doors, cup holders, basically everything our LE Armada had except Nav and DVD and Sunroof.
Why would she like a Suburban or an Excursion over a Titan? The Titan has got to feel like a sports car compare to those bloated ponderous overweight pigs.lol!

because most girls don't know anything about a good vehicle when they see one...except, of course, the lovely females we have on our site that drive Titans.
My wife test drove a titan after me. Her response? "If it wasn't for the fuel mileage, we'd both be driving these" .
Hope your wife comes around, but, i'm afraid that even if sh secretly enjoys the vehicle, admitting that would make her look bad .
Cheers, Lee S.

Welcome to the Titan world, it will grow on her after she realize that its plenty of room in the backseat for your 2 kids. I'd be willing to bet the interior room is about the same as her car! haha You just dont have the trunk.

Are you kidding?!?!?! The trunk on this thing is HUGE compared to other cars! I could never get 15 sheets of drywall in my Civic! (I got 4 in there, but that was its limit)
Good idea with the tonneau, though. I have one and it's great. Do you have the rear seat DVD entertainment system? If so, first long trip with the kids and she'll like it, guaranteed!

You got the top of the line gizmos for your ride so I hope she gets accustomed to it quickly!
Welcome aboard...
