Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

I was wondering about others opinons about powder coating my factory 18's black? White 2005 crew cab titan with no exterior mods, just clean white trucks with dark black tinted windows, no chrome crap ither, all white a purty. But I wanna change it up a lil, and was considering going with a black matte finish!? suggestions welcome..

Matt....

I prsonaly really like the Oem 5 poke wheels. If these are the ones you will be powder coating i think they will look great. About the chrome i like it to and i have it on my truck but also like the ones with out it. Man i wish i coul have two titans at times. The money too

How much is powdercoating rims and what kind of place does it? I'm about to have two sets of rims (5 spoke SE's and 6 spoke LE's), so I'm thinking about powdercoating a set of them.

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

Your going to wanna look at your local paint shops and what not. Search google for local business's that offer powder coating. My guy quoted me 100 bucks a rim. Which I found def. affordable. 400$ and i have a set of baked matte black 18's. You wanna make sure the place is legit, no macco or any place like that, they'll charge you alot. Look for your ma and pa body shops, or like hot rod places.... You'll be set. Good luck, and I'll post pics fersure.

I've been quoted about 300 for a set of wheels and another two for the step rails.

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

That will be my first 'show' mod. A buddy of mine saw a smoke Titan with the stock wheels powdercoated black and tints to match the back.

He said it looked very nice!

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

I've seen a White Titan around town here with black powdercoated 5 spoke rims. Looked very trick. I have been thinking about getting the black powerdercoat on my rims. Since the discontinued the smoke rims in 06, I was bummed that I couldn't get them anymore. Does anyone have pics of black powercoat 5 spoke stock rims on a Smoke Titan?

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

There was a shop in Lake Elsinore that PC'd my wheels for me at $65 per. I forget the name of the place though, because the outfit that was doing my lift ran the wheels over there for me and then picked them up when they were done.

They almost did them gloss black because I forgot to tell the shop manager I wanted a flat sheen, but he asked me at the last second before I left, "You wanted gloss right?". I am glad he reminded me because I had also forgot to tell him not paint wheel caps black which he had planned on doing.

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

Ive got a white CC too with the OEM 18" and was thinking of powdercoating my rims white. Black would look pretty sweet too.

White Titan with white powder coated rims???

I'm not a fan of dark rims (other than bronze and polished lip) but that looks good. Probably because the lugs are still silver, and the center caps are as well. Offsets nicely.

Thanks Andrew.

I know they are not pretty, but the flat black has kinda of an anti-bling statement to it which appealed to me.

Black chrome might be interesting as well. Smokey but not as flat as powder coat. Some examples:

Re: Should I powder coat my oem 18's black?

great idea ob the flat black powder coating and i believe that it would be a great match to the flat looking bed caps, step bars, etc..

post pics when available.
