Removing glue...

I installed the big tow mirrors on my truck, but that gluey stuff from the plastic covers is still there. It's hard and stuck on really well... what would be optimal for removing it?

Thanks

Andrew

Re: Removing glue...

goof off works good on glue provided it doesn't damage the substrate.

Re: Removing glue...

Try Goo-Gone or go to a body shop supply and get 3M adhesive remover. As always test in a non noticeable place first. Good luck.
You could go to a body shop and see if they'd do it for you. Just give them a few bucks for lunch.

Re: Removing glue...

I used Oops! gum and tar remover on a rag, swirled it around a few times and presto. Looks good. Thanks.

Re: Removing glue...

I used 3m Adhesive removal to get the glue of the door pillar when I removed the black sticker. Work alot better than all the Goo Gone and other stuff I bought.

Re: Removing glue...

Yep, 3M no. 08987 Adhesive Remover works the best. Use a microfiber towel so you won't scratch the paint. You may need to go to a automotive paint supply store to get it though. It's hard to find at the local five and dime autoparts stores.
