Lowrance make very nice units - just a bit too big for portability for me. The screen does look awesome though!
I had wanted a GPS that was "big enough" to view while driving - whilst being able to easily take with me to prevent theft. The nuvi's can be mounted for a clean install. Battery and 12v power was a must, as well as Bluetooth for POI dialing.
How do you keep the iWay secure - on the top shelf of the bezel?
All i need now is to get me some Mexico maps for my trip next week to Veracruz and I'm all set!
Its currently on a quick detach windshield mount which was a temp solution to get me through the weekend. I will be hardwiring it to the right of the center console soon.

I got this Mio C310X at Fry's for $198.00 it is easy to use, portable, touch screen, mp3 and probably one of the best units out for the money! http://www.gpslodge.com/archives/008669.php
my wife said she had looked into this unit - but they were out of stock at Fry's! the price is definitely a Garmin killer!

nice - post pics when you are done!
Sadly - I just don't trust having an aftermarket GPS in plain sight - I got my truck broken into right after Thanksgiving - BT Headset and my Oakley shooting glasses in plain sight - no more stuff
Us peeps in Cali can't mount a GPS with the windshield mount - CHIPS would be all over us - still don't know why..
I put mine in the place as shown in the photo. I don't use the weighted base anymore because it rides perfectly without falling. I can easily put in on the floor when I leave my Titan.

Very nice touch screen, well lit, easy to navigate with a good layout. I can't think of too many negatives about this unit, especially for 1/2 the price of units with similar functions.

It's better to have it and not need it, Than need it and not have it!"
I just got the garmin nuvi 660, only problem is the mounting bracket I don't want to mount it to the windshield so I mounted it in the center tray in the dash console the traffic sensor/power wire gets in the way of being able to manuever it but I love it otherwise

you can try the same setup I bought for my 360 from ProClip - runs $60 plus shipping- and its rock solid.

I bought my wife a Tom Tom almost two years ago. She loves it. I must admit that it is very handy. It’s so easy to use that my 70 something mother borrowed it to go on an out of state trip with a friend. I will be very charitable and call her technologically challenged. Although she never made it do more than give basic directions. She was able to use it.
I’ve used others. I don’t see big differences between the units. They all seem to do most of the same things. My one piece of advice is, before you buy one; check how difficult it is to update the unit or upgrade the maps. After a couple of years, you’ll need to.
I can download updates/upgrades over the internet but the files are large and a cable modem is pretty much a necessity. Some units are more difficult to update/upgrade.

Hey bro, did you ever hard wire your unit? I just bought a Garmin Nuvi and am wondering what the process is of hardwiring it?
Thanks,

Waiting for the mew mount and external antenna to show up. However hardwiring a Lowrance will probably be nothing like a garmin
Where did you mount it though? I know it won't be exactly the same, I'm mostly concerned about which power source to use?
