As I posted elsewhere on the same topic...DaimlerChrysler (DC) lost 1.5 billion (!!) in the third quarter of 2006. Just ask Dr. Z.
DC is shipping new cars/trucks to their dealers, regardless of whether they ordered them or not. The last time this happened, the dealers revolted...causing Chrysler to go bankrupt....Where's Lee Iacocca now when they need him?
The local papers here (SoCal) have ads similar in price to your posted ad...even the 300C has been reduced by $1000's.
Ford in the second week of December 2006 is going to offer the largest incentives in their history.
Ford sales have hit rock bottom...now DC is also feeling the pinch.

A sad day to the automotive industry when Jaguar is Chinese owned.
Remember Malcom Bricklin? He's got exclusive distribution rights to sell Chery's in Canada and the US.
With any new vehicle...signing up dealers can be a real problem...and so by buying an established auto maker...that'll give Chery 100's of well financed outlets.
It's a smart move...and speaking of Smart's...look for them next year.
Currently sold in Canada and Europe...it's an awful terd...CR has already panned them.
If I were in a major metro city, I'd consider a SMART. We saw LOTS of small and micro cars in Sydney. Not a lot of really big vehicles. In our entire time there, I only saw ONE full size Pickup. It was a Ford F350. First one is for you BKW, just because it's interesting. I'll let you guess what it is. The rest are just of the very diminutive vehicles we saw there. In that smaller world, yeah I'd drive a SMART, and yes, we saw them there.

In the upper left of that pic which has the mini panel van thing, you can see a flatbed truck. THAT's what is used mostly there as a work truck. They are Holdens or Fords like our El Camino or Ranchero with that aluminum bed on them. They were one of the few vehicles we would see with regularity that had V8's in them. There were street hot rod versions too. I think I took a pic of one of those if you're interested.

I heard that the SRT-10 averages about 9mpg. Maybe that's why they have to sell them
cheap. It's more of a weekend toy than a daily driver. At that MSRP you are in the range of a new Corvette. I think most people that want to go fast for that kind of money would rather own a car (like a vette).
