Yep, that's right. I bet it looks better than 3 or 4 rock chips on the front of your hood though...
That's the Nissan factory one on my truck in my sig. Yea, there are a few screws that show, but they blend it and I don't even notice them. That deflector don't move or flap though like some of the other ones.
You can see the atachment screws, but I have the smoke color shield and you really don't even notice it.
I had the Lund Stainless Steel bug shield on my 05, and I think the mounting for the factory shield is better even if you do see the screws.
Just my 2c.

Thanks fellas. I have just never seen a bug shield (especially an OEM) that had the screws exposed like that. You'd thing that they would have thought of plastic screw covers like you find in some products like wood that have colored screw covers.
I have the OEM, it does have the exposed screws but they are not very noticable. I think it fits the lines of the truck and its also very sturdy no fluttering or vibrating at high speeds.

I have the OEM one too and it isn't noticable. Th reason the screws are there is because the bug shield brackets attach to the lip of the hood and then you use the screws to attach the shield to the brackets.
It is definitely more secure than other shields because others rely on existing holes in the hood (only two of them) and adhesive tape to mount. My Wade was on for only 4 months before it stated coming loose. The OEM one should last much longer.
The only negative on the OEM one is that there is a lot of alignment and 3m stickers to attach to the hood. They all have to sit in the right places and they are all meant to protect the hood's paint job. Once you get all of it done I think it is well worth it. Just read the instructions and make sure you take inventory first so you know which stickers are meant for which areas. Once you get a picture in your head it will all make sense for installation.

Maybe this changed, but the '06 has four holes that they mount to under the hood. Also have clips to keep the cantilevered ends from flapping in the breeze. The "clips" are all you see on the front.

Mine is an 06 and you can see the screws on the top.
Supposedly that's what is on my but it looks fugly to me. There are like 3-4 screws that actucally show on the tob of the bugshield.
Anyone know if this is right?
I have had mine on my truck two weeks after I bought it (JAN 04) and didn't like it at first. They will not rust and they are used to secure your shield to the hood. Makes it more stable if you decide to get it up to 125mph on the highway.

You'll need an UpRev ECU Reflash or something similiar to achieve that 125 to test your bugshield! ECU stock, limits you to 110-114mph. Screws not as bad looking as those on some fender flares. Ugh!
Yeah, much more complicated bugshield than my old AVS's, I had to read the instructions for this one. Looks real good though, and strong.

I'll agree to disagree on it not being noticeable because it IS definitely noticeable to me! Of course, I have an anal attention to detail sometimes and I'm pretty picky about these types of things. I'll see how it goes, but it'll probably be in the "flea market" in favor of a Lund in the near future. IMO, it looks like a cheap after market bug shield from Wal-Mart.
I notice the rubber grommets on the back of the shield when the sun shines on it a lot more so then the screws. One thing about the screws is, its is easy to unscrew the shield form the brakets and do a good cleaning under the shield once or twice a year.

I agreee with Big A. I take mine off every time I wash my truck. Very convenient.
