Valet Lights - All Have Heat Cracks

I don't know if I'm the only one that has had this problem, but recently, the plastic cover on one of my valet lights (you know the little lights that are at the bottom of each of the doors) cracked and was dangling by the wires attached to the lights.

At first, I thought it may have been hit by something or kicked on accident, but I took a look at all of them and they all had heat cracks. I took it to the dealer and they are covering it under warranty, but they don't have the parts in stock.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? I could see one or two being defective, but all four? Next time you go out to your truck take a look and examine them for small cracks.

Re: Valet Lights - All Have Heat Cracks

How could that possibly happen unless the doors were left open for a long period of time? Interesting. I know mine have been open for probably an hour at some point while cleaning it, which would probably be long enough for the lenses to get hot. Guess I'll have to check.

Re: Valet Lights - All Have Heat Cracks

I've never left the door open for very long. I have no idea what caused it.

A sign for your celebrity status..

I had seen that before on a Armada when I was at the dealer. They replaced them but couldn't figure out why it did it.

Re: Valet Lights - All Have Heat Cracks

Wassup P,

It was a very hot summer that steamed the cabin. I wonder if that is enough heat to crack the plastic covers.
