Thumbs up Re: Scraping Noise When I Turn or Hit Brakes Hard!!!!

I called the dealership and asked how much they would charge for a rear brake job and hey said 199.00. I'm going to be able to buy the brake pads and have the rotars turned for $50.00.

Please point it out if I am missing something but you were supposed to get new rear pads and have the rear rotors turned during the "brake job."

A while ago I downloaded this attachment from TT. Maybe you can use to your benefit.

The rear rotors are easy to get on & off. The fronts may require a little muscle or a good air impact wrench.

Had the rear rotors and brakes changed in 1 hour last night. This was the easiest brake job ever.

It's not uncommon for people to drive with the E-brake on...or sometimes it doesn't release all the way. That'll take the rear pads down to the rivets.

Rear brakes should last at least 50,000 miles under normal conditions.

Negatory, the e-brake operates shoes which drag on a drum and have nothing to do with the pads on the rear calipers. Leaving the e-brake on will just take the e-brake shoes out.

Yeah I agree with bestatchess. When you pull the rotar off the emergency brake is inside like a drum brake. Dont think the rear pads have anything to do with the emergency brake.

OK...I based my answer on 50 some years experience with cars/trucks that the E brake works off the rear wheels....so tell me, please...how does the E brake operate on a Titan.

When you say shoes in a drum...are you saying this is the old Chrysler style E-brake that had a drum on the back of the trans..which clamped the shoes to the driveshaft? I thought those were outlawed years ago.

My turn to ask for an answer...

The e-brake drums are located inwardly of the rear rotors.

Did you change the rotors as well? What did you use?
