Any way to increase payload capacity?

I'm looking into travel trailers and it seems I run out of tongue weight long before I run out of overall towing capacity. I know on older F150s that I had you could get heavy duty springs put on that would give you another 500lbs or so. Is there anything I can do to the Titan to allow me to carry a bit more weight on the hitch?

Re: Any way to increase payload capacity?

Use a load leveling style hitch to distibute the tongue weight further back
Any local Uhaul shop can help you out with that.

Re: Any way to increase payload capacity?

Helwig makes a 2500lb leaf that goes on top of the leaf springs! That is my next mod. $159.00 and very easy to install!

Don't forget the air bags... They work nicely as well.

Re: Any way to increase payload capacity?

A weight distribution hitch is all you should really need. The Titan already has the "rake" designed into it so that it levels out with some weight on the tongue. Unless you have had the leveling kit installed.

Re: Any way to increase payload capacity?

With a travel trailer and a 1/2 ton your payload will always max out before your tow capacity.
