Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

I've been looking into this for some time and finally settled on a Defender Series Rack made by Offroad Unlimited. 4X4 Parts sells them for crew cab Titan. They did the legwork to determine which mounting brackets will work with the Titan. Rack assembly for out Titan's is so new that ORU doesn't even list it yet. You can check them out here:

http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/...c5beb53972dcbc

I bought the one piece model and since I'm nearby ORU's warehouse in Burbank, I drove over to pick it up on Saturday. I also got the high lift and shovel/axe attachment points, which are options. Installed it on Sunday and the pics are below.

Requires you to drill twelve, 1/2" holes into the roof of your truck. They use well nuts which are pretty clever. They are self sealing neoprene and really hold the thing on tight while being waterproof!!!!

Take your time lining it up and setting the height and leveling and it even works with models with a sunroof like mine.

Lights up front and in the rear are next on my list.

Hope you enjoy!!!!

Regards,

John

I just can't bring myself to drill holes in the roof of the cab...Your truck does look good.

The factory O/R wheels chromed look awsome!

Thumbs up Re: Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

Looks awesome!

What's the weight it can carry?

I couldn't get the link to work though.

Re: Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

Sorry for the broken link. Here's their website.

http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/...e7b86ba9fede97

Yeah, drilling holes up into the roof will give you nightmares. Once you commit, you're into it for the life of the truck. 12 holes is a lot and with so many attachment points it should easily hold 150-200 lbs. It's rock solid and I power washed the truck today and no leaks, so that's cool.

Regards,

John

Re: Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

How much did it cost to get the wheels chromed?

Re: Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

Wheels where chromed when I bought the truck. Dealer had an exchange program. Can't remember how much, but I'm sure they overcharged me.

You can typically get rims dipped for $75-$100 per rim. Try to find someone with an exchange system as this makes it a lot easier than dismounting four rims and tires, then waiting the time it takes to get them back from the dip shop.

Regards,

John

Re: Offroad Roof Rack with/Pics!!!

Yeah, it is pretty clean, huh? I broke out the power washer this morning and actually took 10 minutes extra and cleaned the wheels.

I'll be out offroading next weekend, so it'll get pretty dirty then!!

Anyone out SoCal way care to do some offroading? I've got a trail I'm dying to run on, but it's sorta tough so I'd like to go with another truck.

Regards,

John
