Titan pros and cons?

I am looking to get a new titan within the next month, not brand new but less then 20k miles on it.. I have been looking at every brand and I love the titans. Their just so sexy, hows the reliability issues, and what about power and 4wd option?
I currently drive a 2005 dodge srt4 acr with 7700 miles on it.. I love the car to death but the insurance owns me, 400 a month insurance kills me with a 450 payment, thats main reason im moving to a truck and I NEED a truck for work also now.
thanks
Ken

Re: Titan pros and cons?

wow $400 a month for the srt4? i was quoted $300 a month for an 06 wrx sti...maybe you should look into switching insurance companies? i don't have any tickets or anything though so maybe that's the difference?

i cant think of too many cons for the titan. gas bill maybe? but gas bills are always high for full size trucks so thats expected.

pros:
room (crew cab)
power
off road
towing
looks

reliability shouldn't be an issue...just make sure that if you get an 04 it already has the brake fix (which most should by now)

Re: Titan pros and cons?

$300 - $400 a month for insurance?!? Holy Crap! You have two options: Turn 25 years old or get married. In your case, you might want to try both. With my Titan and my wife's VW Convertible, we're paying $170/month. Allstate Sucka!

4 Wheel drive will raise your premiums a good bit.

As far as pros and cons:

Pros: It freaking rules and makes me giggle like a school girl when I press the gas.

Cons: Makes me giggle like a school girl.

Re: Titan pros and cons?

sounds great guys, yea I imagine 5.6 L is thirsty..but Ill be makin 1k-1200 a week back home doing cabinet work for a big company my dads running so i CAN AFFORD the gas im sure... sucked with my neon it took premium.. well insurance is 400 a month because of reckless driving 3 years ago and 2 speeding tickets... and srt4 is like the 5th highest car insurance rate in the country.. 350 was lowest i FOUND FOR SRT4.. its fun its fast but my mouth is drooling over these titans i looked up the insurance for 4wd 06, and it was only 170 a month woohoooo!!.. I am going toeither get black or white, I love the blacked out look because thats what my srt is.. I want to lift it, get the 8 inch pro comp with 35s would look pretty sick Im imagining.. how are they offroad, not that mine will see it much, but it will see construction sites so some mud...
thanks for all the helpful input you guys are great I CANT WAIT about another month and ill have 3,000 to put down.. do you guys think I should buy used with like 15-20k miles so the depreciation goes down off the price, i LEARNED THAT WITH MY SRT4 bought new with 80 miles, lost 5k as soon as I drove off the lot basically pissed me off... they dont think its a rare car only 1500 were made
weiros=dealers
thanks for all the help
ill keep you guys posted
so hows the response in the throttle? Im imagining pretty decent for a 5.6L hell I had the 5.0 HO in my 93 f150 and it would fly..
ok enough needless post its long enough, what is the brake issue your speaking of with the 04?
WHAT DO YOU THINK BLACK OR WHITE?
IT DOESNT EVEN MATTER IF ITS BLACK OR WHITE HAHA SORRY...
peace

Re: Titan pros and cons?

Flowmasters are hecka loud! A nice deep drone would be a Banks or a Magnaflow. Magnaflow sounds nice too...its what I got =). But as for reliability.....I have 26,000+ miles on my truck and zero problems. Only problem is the radiator cap that was replaced under warranty. I havn't done any service to it except for an oil change but I'm gonna get one done here soon. Oh yeah...another problem is that I don't have a supercharger...YET.

Re: Titan pros and cons?

Do the smart thing...check with your insurance company before buying anything. Run whatever you want past them first...then you'll know what the insurance cost will be before you buy.

If you are concerned about gas prices...you don't need a truck. Gas prices will be over $3.00 a gallon by next summer...in about three years...it'll be $4.00 a gallon.

Thumbs up Re: Titan pros and cons?

I would have to say Flowmasters are the way to go. I have people turn their heads everyday looking at my truck when I ride by.

Re: Titan pros and cons?

I have only owned my Titan a couple of weeks but here are my pros and cons.

Cons:

Heater takes too long to heat the cabin sufficiently.
Seatbelts are awkwardly placed it seems.
The door handles on the inside are badly placed and fugly.
Wish the outside temp guage/compass was on the rearview mirror instead on the ceiling.
The tow mirrors are too wide when pushed in all the way.

Pros:

Looks
Roominess
Comfort
Power
Tow Capacity

Re: Titan pros and cons?

I wouldn't even look at a used TItan right now. I would recommend you to buy new because the used price is about the same price as a brand new one. Most buyers are getting Titans for about $21k-$25k right now.

In comparison, you will think a Titan is a rocketship. I really like the Titan! The only thing that bothers me sometimes is that the interior plastic is kinda cheap. You can find one helluva deal on a leftover 06! I bought mine for $6500 under sticker (MSRP was $36,600) back in June. You should be able to do even better than that on a leftover.

Re: Titan pros and cons?

Pros: Great Engine/Tranny Combo. Fast. Great Looking. Cheap to insure (Full Coverage is only costing me $300 every 6 months)

Cons: Cheap seat material, cheap interior plastics, bad rear differentials (Pre-2006), rattling dashes and a few other minor annoyances.
