Transfer Case

I hit Jiffy Lube during lunch after reading suggestions that I not wait untill 3,000 miles for first oil change. The Jiffy Lube guy looked under my 2006 Titan and told me I had a terrible leak in my tranfer case. It was emply. I only have 2,500 miles on the truck. I will take it by the dealer tomorrow but wanted some ammunition if others have experience the same thing.

Thanks for any help

Re: Transfer Case

Some transfercases came out of the factory not fully tightened. This happened to mine, but I didn't notice the leak...they replaced my Trans Case after a little haggling.

I posted this previously...

I periodically look under my truck. A few weeks ago, I found a leak and took the truck in for service and reported it. The dealership said three of six transfer case bolts were backed out and fluid was leaking through the threads. I was down about a 1/4 of a quart.

Since they tightened the bolts, I've noticed an improvement in my 2nd to 3rd shift (I know the transfer case shouldn't effect this directly...but I'm guessing the loose hardware was moving from the torque spike at the gear change).

I hope there isn't any long term damage that will show up later.

Re: Transfer Case

The upper bolts on my transfer case were backed out exposing about 1/4 inch of the thread. I leaked a bit of fluid out.

Any issues after they corrected it?
