Brand new TITAN! but a little concerned...

Well i finally ditched my last Silverado/Sierra and picked up my new Titan last nite. was gunna get an 07 se but since they didnt have the one i wanted, they sold me a brand new 06 LE for even cheaper! (by the way thanx Sting77 for VPP!) Well it must have been sitting for a while sinse it was an 06 and the battery was dead. (BTW it only had 24 miles on it not 24k). Well on the test drive it was almost empty so me and sales guy filled er up. Battery dead again, stuck at gas station for 25 min. ("Son of A ...!!!"). ok well we figured out it wount hold a charge and they would put in a new one. not a problem. (strike 1)
Ok, now ive signed papers and gunna leave. noticed it was out of winshield washer fluid, but it was late and service was closed. went by the next day and they filled it up, but within 30 min it had poured out all over the bottom of the resivoir. its cracked or broke and their ordering a new one. (strike 2)
Well i LOVE everything about this truck but am scared of being a lemon. i know their little things but its brand new. What would you guys do. i was scared they crashed it or something but i coulnt tell. Please let me know if i should just blow it off.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, they are gonna replace the washer fluid bottle right? If it's been wrecked and they sell it to you as new, you can sue for triple damage. If it will make you feel better, let a independent shop take a look at it.

I wouldnt worry about it. I guess the truck just sat too long without any attention. The Titan is an awesome truck. I had a Sierra Z71 before the Titan and it was going down hill at about 60k.

I also bought a leftover 2006 LE. Its battery was dead also. They replaced it, haven't had a problem since.

Wouldn't worry too much about the small stuff. But just in case, keep track of your visits to the dealer (paperwork preferably), that will help should you need to lemon it.

Re: Brand new TITAN! but a little concerned...

If the truck had sat for a while, a dead battery wouldn't be out of the ordinary at all. They put in a new one, so no worries for a couple more years there. I posted here a while back about my washer reservoir leaking as well. Though none here had heard of it, my service guy said they'd had some problems with the grommet at the bottom of the reservoir where the tubing goes out to the washer nozzles. The put in a new bottle, no more worries there either. Just have fun with that bad boy! It's not going to let you down.

Re: Brand new TITAN! but a little concerned...

As Carbeaux said, it's not uncommon. Those are minor issues, trust me. My '95 Ford came from the factory with a bad clutch (5-spd tranny). It was replaced before I hit 1000 miles. It was never right since, but the truck and the clutch and the tranny lasted me 11 years and 185,000 miles.

Have fun with your truck and start modding that baby. You may want to wait til a few thou on the odo before WOT, though. You don't have to baby it, but don't trounce it either. Congrats & welcome!

Thumbs up Re: Brand new TITAN! but a little concerned...

You'll have fun with your truck for sure.

Since it is under warranty, check out the Technical Service Bulletins so that you are aware of any other minor tweaks that may be needed to your Titan.

(All vehicles have TSB's) but being prepared is better than being unaware and expecting nothing to go wrong...

What I would have done was what I've always done since I bought my first new truck in 1965...Inspect the damn thing before signing anything! It's also a rule NEVER to buy at night...especially in the rain...as the bright neon lights can mask problems. Another rule...don't turn on the radio during a test drive...listen to it before/later.

Dealers have very short memories...any issue you find...have the dealer give you a due bill to fix the issue(s).

It's not a lemon...hopefully....trucks can sit on dealers lots for months without getting cranked over. I would never take a test drive if the battery had to be charged.
