Forged or Cast Pistons?

Does the Titan have forged or cast pistons?

Thx,
Chris

BTW: I raced a lifted 05 titan with a Banks exhaust and big tires. My stock baby kicked his a$&!! I guess with big tires and being 4 inches higher you push alot more air. His exhaust sounded a little funky at start up when the engine is cold alot of ratteling too. Does that happen to you Banks guys?

Re: Forged or Cast Pistons?

More like stock gears with larger diameter tires and more rotating mass.

Re: Forged or Cast Pistons?

crank is forged so I would think that the pistons are also forged

Re: Forged or Cast Pistons?

I am going to take a SWAG that the pistons are cast with a graphite epoxy coated skirt and that piston + pin weighs about 531 grams, with a compression ratio of 9.8:1, a piston height of 52 mm, a compression height of 31.63 mm, a land height of 4.2 mm, and a tapered inner diameter to reduce weight.

Re: Forged or Cast Pistons?

I think Bestatchess, our honorable supermoderator, was trying to summarize this:

Technical Info about VK56DE?

Scroll down to post #6 and the attachment.

The crank is forged and micropolished, but the pistions are cast and coated to reduce friction.
