If your truck only gets 8 mpg to and from work (about 150-160 miles per tank), would you sell it?
Nope, I would lower it and put some stock tires on it! Or just look away from the pump and whistle while filling it. What was the Milage before the lift and tires??

V - Don't sell your Titan - just get a ride to work by doing a little car pooling. I have been saving $$ by getting a lift from the plastic surgion intern I have been working with at the hospital. He husband just bought her a new silver Porche 911 as a graduation present from med school and she has been wanting to drive it in almost every day lately. So while my Big Black Titan sits - I save $$ on gas. See - I always say - if it's for free - it's for me!

Besides selling a truck you bought in the last several years will cost you dearly...if you financed...you are probably upside down...selling it for retail KBB (good luck) is your ownly hope.
Otherwise trading in an upside down vehicle will cost you far more money that what you will save, because whatever you owe will be tacked onto the contract of the new replacement.
Keep it and get it fixed! Why are you only getting 8 MPG? I get between 7 and 10 towing a 33' travel trailer! If all else fails, do what I did....buy a little car to run back and forth to work in. I bought an 01 Bug that gets 30 MPH...soon after my drive to work went from 15 miles to 1.2 miles.
You're gonna take too much of a beating on a trade right now. Keep it!

Don't mean to step on any toes (not directed at HVT either) but I never understand this theory. The expense to buy an additional car plus gas , insurance and maintenence can't be worth the gas difference you save. Secondly if your vehicle of choice was a Titan, now you're driving an alternate vehicle and not the truck so why keep it? I use my truck as a business vehicle and pull a small utility trailer with it. This was one reason I bought the truck. The second reason is it's safe to be in if and when a wreck occurs, I'll be in better shape than if I was in a gas miser car. Odds are if someone uses a beater to get to work then that's more than likely the car they will be in at the time of the accident and I hope for their sake the are able to walk away from it. Now if we were talking about buying and keeping a Shelby or a Corvette that only gets used occasionally then I understand. Anybody else in here besides me who doesn't get this concept?

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.

I understand your point but in my case, it's not just the gas difference - it's keepin the miles down on the new truck. If I drove it back and forth to work 55 miles every day, that would rack up mileage quick. I plan to keep my Titan for a long time. I paid $750 for my E30 BMW (86 325e) and insurance for it is $15/month. I continue to keep my truck because it is a nice, reliable vehicle for trips and I also use it for pulling our other car to track events from March to November.
