On my way in to work this morning, spotted a strange looking truck ahead of me, stopped at the intersection of I-10 and Baseline road in Tempe, AZ. I say it looked strange because the proportions were different than any Titan I'd ever seen, but it obviousl had a Titan Tailgate. Pulled up next to it, it was an extended cab Titan with a long bed! The bed appeared to be 8 feet long. Truck was a 2wd (or at least it sat as low as other 2wd Titans I've seen), painted light brown, with Duct tape covering all the logos on the doors and tailgate. Had a blue Mfr. license plate on it. Anyone else heard anything about such an animal? I knwo, this thread is useless without pictures, but I know what I saw!

That's the CC with the KC bed on it. He's claiming an 8' bed. That wouldn't be too bright for Nissan seeing as that option isn't a great seller to begin with. Now the full 6' bed on the CC would make sense and is more probable. Nissan has done this with their Frontiers in the past.

If you know anyone who lives in the Cave Creek area...The Boulders Resort has been used as a base of operations by several manufacturers when they introduce a new model/design. Members of the press, invited guests and Nissan bigwigs could be there. The remote location and the gated resort keeps away the lookie-loos.
I thought it was only in NM that they saw the UDO sightings. Yes the long bed is coming out in 08! As our wonderful inside member has pointed out in the past.

I have no problem at all thinking you saw what you think you did. To me it makes all the sense in the world. It is already pretty apparent (by pictures we've actually seen) that there is a crew cab with a 6 1/2' box. This would be the exact same platform on which an extended cab with an 8' box would sit. We have actually seen every possible component needed to manufacture such an animal except for the box itself. That is the only part we haven't gotten to see in pictures but I'd bank on the fact that you did, in fact, see this.

Even if an 8 foot bed isn't a "big" seller, what would be the break even point for it to make money. It couldn't have a huge tooling expense I wouldn't think. I'd say it would be entirely possible to see them in production. Plus IF they do a regular cab, it could be put on the KC frame for yet another variant.

I doubt that Titans have come close to the break even point...Sales have slipped from the high of 93,000 units in 2004, to estimated 75,000 units in 2006.
Original sales goal from Nissan was 100,000 units per year.
Stiff competition from the Big 3 with huge rebates haven't helped, and it may get worse in 2008, as Ford will debut an all new F150.

2007 Tundra sales goal: 200,000 units
2008 Tundra sales goal: 300,000 units
I hear you BKW, but what I mean is this....How many long beds (8 ft) would you have to sell to recoup the tooling cost for that particular variation? Not the Titan truck as a vehicle line. It would seem that an 8 foot bed would be an inexpensive way to offer yet another model to the line and improve it's overall attraction to the consumer?
