I am new to the forum and this really sucks that this is my first post. I just bought a new 2006 silver 4WD KC SE two weeks ago. I normally park the truck on the road which hasn't been a problem since we don't live on a busy street. On Friday morning I woke up to get in my truck to discover someone had smashed into it during the night. It looks like a small car ran into the back of it and bent the bumper and the storage bin on the outside of the bed. Also they blew out the left rear tire and bent the rim. It looks as though the truck moved about 5 feet or so. This was a hit and run and I have not been able to find the car. The insurace has towed the car to the shop and are going to look at it tomorrow to see what the damage is. I pretty much have come to the conclusion that I cannot get a new truck at this point. I just want to know what things I should look for that could have been damaged in an accident like this. I just don't want to have problems down the road. Also if anyone has some suggestions to help out in a situation like this it would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your advice.
Sucks this happened at all, especially when brand new! I NEVER NEVER park in the street. It's unfortunate, but you should be able to get everything back to normal with insurance..That's what comprehensive is for.
If I would have heard my truck get smashed in the middle of night and saw them trying to leave, I would have chased them!
Any parking light remains from the azz'z car that hit you? Some of those lamps have ID numbers on the lenses, which can be traced to a particular model.
Sorry to hear of your plight...Good luck..and welcome to TT.
You might want to try and get the bed replaced. If I remember correctly, they're about $2000. Definitely get the rim replaced (so not settle for straightening), it will probably be around $400 from Nissan USA. The bumper is not a biggie, I think they're around $300 but they're easy to come by. Once its all repaired, make sure that the storage bin on the side of the bed is relatively watertight (I don't think theyre perfectly dry even new), and make sure it opens and closes without a problem. Also make sure the tailgate is properly aligned. Good luck and sorry to hear this is your first post!

As long as there is no frme ddamage, you shouldn't have any real worries. Insurance will cover all, but the deductible. Interesting info from BKW concerning the Lens ID. Look around the neighborhood a bit, ask neighbors. Most likely a local. It must have been heavily damaged. File a police report, a local body shop may be repairing a car that is custom fitted to your Titan if you get my drift. Pursue a bit if you can.

Did the insurance tow it to 'their' shop; i.e.a shop they contract with?
If so, get it out of there and take it to a shop you trust that is not affiliated with the insurance company. You can then trust the shop to speak for you.
I had my truck towed to the nearest Nissan dealer that was also a Nissan certified collision center. They made sure the insurance adjuster wrote up all damaged parts, and the repair price using OEM parts. You need someone who 'speaks' for you. A shop that contracts with the insurance will have 'cost control' as their prime objective. An independent shop's objective is to repair as many parts as possible (that are damaged)
The insurance may give you some BS about 'lifetime warranty on the repairs if done at their repair shop'. Don't fall for that. All repairs usually carry a warranty like that, whether at an insurance shop or not.

I will have to get it to one of the dealers in town then. The adjuster did tell me they were taking it to their shop but the repairs would have a lifetime gurantee. I really like this truck and just want to make sure that the accident isn't going to affect it. How do you check if the dealer is a nissan certified collision center?
if the impact bent the rim, i would lobby they replace the entire rear end - axle, springs, shackles etc. last thing you want is your rear wheels to wobble about like you can see on some trucks..

You can take it to the Nissan dealer, or a shop you trust. If you take it to a dealer, check whether they have a body shop on-site. Some dealers farm out the work to third-party shops. It's better to keep the lines of communication between you, the shop, and the adjuster short.
Talk to the manager at the shop after they bring your truck in; most of them enjoy &&^* with the insurance adjusters :-) and will do their best for you (and their shop of course) to get the truck repaired right.

Here is the site of the body shop that the truck is currently at. Can anyone let me know if this looks legit and also if anyone has had experience with them. Thanks
