Purchase warning, question on OEM rack.

I received a Thule xporter422 (which is a ladder/kayak/bike rack system) and it is a complete P.O.S.

The uprights scratch the heck out of themselves, if you can manage to get 300 pounds of weight/force behind them to move them up or down.

It doesn't fit the truck well at all, has to go pretty close to the center of the bed rails to be attached.

1 'T' bolt broke putting it together (very little torque broke it), and 2 more broke taking it apart to get it off my truck (again very little torque was ever put on them, i barely had them snug to test fit the dumb thing.

I'm very dissapointed, i thought Thule put out good products...

So... what all do i have to get to get the OEM rack? just the side rail (can purchase separate?) and the rack itself?

Or does: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...e=999R1-A60100 come with everything i need?

Note: i do not have the utili-track system on my truck, so am wondering do i have to get that before i get the overhead rack?

You will need the Utili-Track.

Re: Purchase warning, question on OEM rack.

don't know if you can do that conversion. My understanding is that the beds are reinforced at the mounting points for the Utili-Track.

Maybe someone else who has attempted or done this can chime in?

Have you considered Trac Rac?
