Titan Delayed...

you may remember my post a few days ago, "is my truck comin or what?". well i got an update yesterday... here's what i got from the sales mgr.

"I just got word from Nissan that your Titan has been delayed. The answer I got from the factory is somewhat ambiguous. Due to an equipment/color combination error, it appears that it may not have gone in to production yet. I’ll know for certain this afternoon. I apologize on behalf of the factory, and will continue to work towards a resolution for you."

i have a feeling that it's because of the sunroof. i wanted the sunroof w/out the dvd and i think that caused the problem. he said they could do it... if that's it, im gonna tell him to go ahead and add the dvd. what the hell... but it's been over 2 months and they still haven't even started on it yet!

Cancel the order and go out this week and find one on a lot. I'm sure you can find the color and most of the options you wanted. Then you can smile and enjoy it now, not two months from now.

i'm guessing you had to place a deposit of what? 1000 bucks? if so, i'd get it back and find one on the lot too, then again the titan is worth the wait! but 2 months going on 3? i don't know about that, i'd be pissed and request some free shat!

I'd cancel that order NOW ..as you are getting the run-around. If you put up a deposit and signed something, this may not be possible...unless the dealership is generous

as once you sign...you own.

Deposits are usually not required (by state laws) to special order a new vehicle.

settling for "most" of the options i want is not an option. if i'm gonna spend this kind of cake on a truck, it's gonna be exactly what i want. i'll wait... and when the times comes, i'll be squeezin em for some extras to ease my pain and suffering...

For what it is worth, when I was going through the hell of my order (factory would not take an order for a Red Alert with Graphite/Titanium) I had lots of people telling me to cancel the order and go search for a truck that was close to what I wanted and just get it, or they were sure I could find one already made equipped just like I wanted. Obviously I did not, I stuck to my guns because there were no Titans configured the way I wanted. I just kept harping on my dealer; that indeed is what I say to do.

I tend to keep my trucks for 8 years, there was no way in hell I was going to take anything even slightly different that exactly what I wanted. I have bought used trucks all my life, this was the 1st time I was going to get just what I wanted, and that was that. And for the record, I'm so happy I waited it out, I suspect once you get your truck, the delays will all be worth it!

Honestly, I think the delay has everything to do with your color combo and not the sunroof. I say this because I know for a fact my delay was indeed a color combo issue. In my case the factory was trying to concentrate on Red Alerts and other colors with the Steel interior, I was not taking that light grey color and the factory did not want to run Graphite/Titanium interiors.

Pay special attention to the description of my truck in my sig pic.
Notice the 17" Off Road tires on a truck equipped with Big Tow and not Off Road. Yes, I got the 17" tires and wheels for free off another Titan on the lot because I hated the 18" wheels and tires, and I did not want to order the Off Road Pkg, I just figured I would swap/buy wheels later, but the way it worked out I got them for free.

thanks quad. that's the way i feel. i'm not willing to compromise. the odd thing is, i can build the truck on nissan's web site (except for the sunroof/dvd thing. it requires the dvd.) but as far as color/interior, it lets you do it. i don't want the gray, i like the graph/titanium much better. i think step bars aren't available with the offroad pkg if i remember right... maybe i can squeeze some of those out of em if it doesn't come with it.

the bad part is, the longer it takes to come in, the more my trade depreciates.. that's the worst part.

There is another thing to consider, you have no idea what the incentives will do. Incentives are based upon when you take delivery, not when you place an order. In my situation I had no trade - I gave my '95 XE-V6 4x4 Hardbody away - but I was worried about loosing a great rebate/financing offer. In the end though, the delay actually meant the rebate/financing offer got better, but it was all pot luck. Bottom line, like me you will end up with exactly what YOU want. Congrats! And keep us posted.

If the 08's roll out in late spring, as many have suggested here, your ordered 07 will be a year old by the time you get it.

This is very true.

How long does it take the factory to crank out a truck? I wouldn't think any more than a few days?

good point... though having not seen an 08, i can't honestly say whether or not i'd prefer it over the 07. money wise though, that could work to my advantage. "why should i pay X for this 07 when i can have an 08 for X..."

Start to finish with delivery takes 4-7 weeks. The Titan final assembly plant is in Mississippi.
