i had a z71 colorado 4 dr. which i was upside down on a total of 8500 dollars, the titan was almost 28k like 27855 i think, i got out of there with a total of 30000 out the door.... told them that was my deal or else i couldnt do it, they met my needs and at just a few dollars over 500 bucks a month, i think thats a lot to pay for a truck, but damn am i happy with it!!!

That is similar to my deal. I went the "reliable" and "sensible" route and got a Passat, that piece of crap broke down all of the time. I traded it down with 7,000 upside down because I had been trying to sell it for 4 months. I told them, "this is what monthly payment that I wanted to make and I am already approved for a loan, so lets not jerk each other's chains."
Some folks just need to do more research before they buy. Or at least sell the vehicle outright so as not to get confused by trade value and actual cash value numbers if they have a trade or car that they want to sell.
You might want to send him to a proctologist, just in case there's anything left up there, broken off.
