anyone have any tips/ remedies to help inprove a 2wd's traction in mud and mainly wet grass... the one spot I do take my truck offroad I most times can't get out of without a fight, or tow.
i'd be ok if there weren't small berms and stuff, or somewhere to get a running start.
I saw these rubber spiked deals in Northern tools winter catalog has anyone tried them?
Larger tires/more aggressive tread? I'm rolling on stock XE wheels and tires now.

Put some weight in the back over the wheels.

#2: See above, weight over the rear wheels aka sandbags or kitty litter.
#3: Better Tires

Better tire will help alot. I worked the last 3 CORR races with my 2wd beast and the first 2 I used old ProComp A/T's and the truck was hard to control in the mud. But now I have new ProComp M/T's and now trouble at all.
With the TruTrac, I think I am as good in 2WD as I was pre-TruTrac in 4WD with the ABLS nonsense.
LOL...I'll see your TruTrac with my 4WD any day. True, driving method is a big chunk of it but.....locking the rear wheels is no match, especially in inclement weather, for 4WD (I've owned both). Now 4WD with the rear locker or 4WD and the TruTrac would be ideal.

How does the tru trac affect gas miledge and everyday driving?
I have not noticed any change in mpg. In daily driving, no effect unless one wheel spins. W/O truetrac, you get the abls nonsense. W/ truetrac, the truetrac immediately engages both rear wheels and away you go.

TrueTrac in 2WD goes up my steep icy driveway no sweat. I can spin both rear wheels all the way up, laying a dual set of claw marks all the way. I do have a fairly heavy tool box in the bed and studded snow tires. Before TrueTrac, 2WD was a no go. 4WD involved alot of ABLS slip, grinding noises, sliding, required a good running start.
